Fashion photography in many ways is like interior design. Like with architectural and interior design, you start with a concept. You then use make-up, wardrobe, hair styling, locations (or backdrops), color, materials and lighting (given and strobes) to develop and create those concepts. Additionally the whole process takes teamwork. The best images are created when all team members (MUA, hairstylist, wardrobe stylist, model and assistants) are involved in both the conceptual and realization processes giving input and suggestions to improve the final product. (Note I shot using a pseudonym Stefhan Gordon to keep this work separate from my architectural business).
I was doing more fashion photography part time in 2009 & 10 when the economy slowed down. It was fun and different, but hard to make any money at. I shot for a few agencies and even got a few tear sheets (e.g. Chaos Magazine and Newport Beach Magazine) , but I was mainly doing model portfolio development work.
As an whole other gig, I shot a lot of runway shows though none of that work is illustrated here
