The Shenzhen Futian Hospital is a 600-bed addition to an existing hospital, more than doubling its size. The new facility includes Outpatient Clinics and expanded Diagnostic and Treatment areas.  A second tower includes expert and student housing.  A multistory atrium separates the the two housing components.  The site in an extremely compact, yet the ground floor of the new hospital has been kept relatively open with flowing courtyards and a sunken garden providing natural ventilation in Shenzhen's subtropical climate.  A 400 seat auditorium is housed in the elliptical form beneath the Inpatient tower providing the nucleus of large Conference Center

One of the central themes of the design is maximizing open space at the ground level and integrating healing courtyards throughout the campus on an extremely dense urban site. This project was won through a design competition will start construction shortly.
