Banner Thunderbird New Entry Pavilion and South Patient Tower

Master planning, site, and design for a new main entry including drop-off and entry canopy.  The 30,000 sf pavilion houses a new public dining area, hospital administrative offices, gift shop, chapel, and family/ patient resource library.  The building’s design forms intimate courtyards, gardens, and an outdoor dining area.  The clear glass and light colored framing of the pavilion provides a striking contrast to the black glass and framing of the existing hospital creating an entry icon.

Site, planning, and building design for a new 236,000 sf six-floor patient room tower with a new Emergency department on the ground floor.  Patient rooms are arrayed in two twenty-bed racetrack arrangements with all public corridors leading to exterior windows providing visual relief and orientation.  The exterior design is visually linked toy the existing campus through materials and forms.  The roof supports twin helipads.
