    Conditions before the cut

Same thing as yesterday. This is the result of us playing around today. We cut a big chunk of the middle piece out…

Conditions after the cut & some in-progress stack/weave details

So, what do you guys think?

    • Funny how it's definitely gone from "chair" to "bench" now, IMO.

You posted some quotes previously about children misusing the physical world in creative ways that we tend to lose as we age.  My favorite piece of furniture in my childhood home was the easy chair I could sit in sideways, legs thrown over the arm.

Generally, in my student and teaching experience, projects go through stages from simple concept to muddled experimentation back to simple execution.  I'm thinking you're still in the muddled bit but getting closer to the original concept, though you may need to go back to your original sketches to look for the clarity that you now know is still possible after all the experimentation you've done.  Good luck!

      Donna,

I know, right? It just doesn't make sense for me to call it a chair still. FYI, it might continuously change while we're still working on it.

Thank you for the comment. I'm with you as after testing the materials real-world properties, I am getting back to the drawing board, to get back to the (for the lack of a better phrase) planning phase.
