Engaging the larger design community in support of our students’ education helps prepare them for entry into the professional environment.  Robert Sutnick (Regional Manager and Architecture and Design Representative for Crossville Inc.) spoke to FIU Interior Architecture students in the course Materials for Interiors. Materials for Interiors, taught by Adjunct Faculty Lisette Boosooboy, is a blended learning lecture course that introduces students to the analysis and research of critical issues affecting selection and application of interior finish materials.

The topic of Sutnick’s lecture to the students was called “Ceramic Tiles from Specification to Installation.” Sutnick said that he sees potential in the FIU students. “I was most impressed,” reflected Sutnick, “with the enthusiasm of the students and the opportunity to share with them the fact that there is more than goes into selecting a finish than its color and texture. Performance, safety, and sustainability are product attributes this group will now recognize as important in their specifications.”

He also authors, produces, delivers, and coaches colleagues in continuing education seminars and classes, teaches industry-relevant content and supporting client requirements for continuing education credits, and he represents the Crossville brand and its products at industry trade shows and events, driving brand building and new business development.
