On Wednesday, February 3rd, FIU LAEUD graduate students Shaylin Castillo, Karen Chu-Metz, and Dominic Mack were invited to present their project, “reTHINK | reIMAGINE Urban Infrastructure + Public Space” to theTransportation Aesthetics Review Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

The studio project, part of FIU LAEUD’s Graduate Design 1 Studio under the guidance of professor MartaCanavés, ASLA (Associate in Design) – explores the contemporary role of landscape architecture in addressing the dynamic complexities of public space, infrastructure, site design, urban form and the environment. Their project, “reCONNECT,” a visioning study, focuses on proposing a multi-way Boulevard for a segment of US1 (Dixie Highway) that is south of Dadeland Mall, transforming it into a new meaningful urban public domain.
