So I'm in the middle of my first all-nighter of the semester and figured I'd dash off a quick entry to illustrate how ungodly horrible my studio space is.
If you scroll back a few entries you'll find a similar picture taken from the webcam in my monitor of the view behind my desk from last semester. I was on the 7th floor of the archie building, with a fantastic view of Newark and New York City. Now, for my final semester of undergrad architecture, they stuck us in the parking deck studios. For those of you who don't go to NJSoA, it should be described at this point that the parking deck is a full block away from the archie building proper, so we're completely removed from things like the printroom, fablab, model shop, library, and the ASU supply shop. It doesn't help that there's only 2 studios in here, with a total of 18 people. On a good night (like tonight) there were 7 of us in here. Typically its 2, maybe 3, since most people work on their laptops either at home or in their rooms. I tried this last night, because I have a laptop. It wound up being more of a pain than anything, since most of my files and programs are on my main studio computer. So now I find myself, sitting in a giant room with 2 other people at 3:30 in the morning, making diagrams of my project. Oh and one more thing... did I mention the loud, intermittent clicking noise coming from the ceiling? It sounds like someone hitting a spacebar roughly every 10-15 seconds. And there's two of them, one near my desk and one on the other side of the room. They communicate back and forth... one goes, then the other, and so on. It gets really spectacularly annoying in a hurry.
Enough ranting for tonight. Back to work.

Man, now I feel really guilty complaining about any one of the many terrible conditions in the arch building. Hang in there.
pod, when you become an alumn, perhaps you'll join me in trying to get rid of that good for nothing dean, the man has been there nearly 20 years, and it's time for him to go.
the only good thing about the parking deck studio is moving in and moving out... shove the shit in the elevator, up to your car, and LEAVE
Now that's a good point, dealing with that ramp and crossing Summit Street can kill you.
b3tadine[sutures], what specifically do you feel are the problems with the dean? I agree NJSoA needs serious improvement, and you've mentioned your disapproval of Urs on one of my posts too so I'm curious to see what your opinion is on 1.) what the problems are, and 2.) what would be possible with a new dean.
