I got a free pass to Meeting Point this weekend, the big real estate convention in the Fira Barcelona at Placa
Espanya. It was well worth going just to see how much money all the promotors spend on their stands and on the
professional models of all the new catalunya construction projects. R+B had three projects on display there. For
one of them, els munts, the promotor commissioned a gigantic detailed model. It's a small housing development in Altafulla
just outside of Tarragona.
The photos didn't come out that well since there was a big plastic case around the model.
Here are some of the stands that were scattered around the exhibition floor.
Yes, that's correct, they even had a 1-hole miniature golf course for the kiddos.
The big white-lit stand above was for the placa Europa if I remember correctly. It was a big series of competitions from a few years ago that is just now getting around to being built. Toyo Ito's building steals the show here. But we have a building too. Way, way back there.
The wonderful promoters of the tower we're building in the Placa Europa switched the names around on the displays of two adjacent towers.
They do bear a striking resemblence to my facade designer though. As did every other building in the whole convention. I want to know what the next fad is going to be in Spanish architecture so I can beat everyone to the punch. I'm guessing it's not going to be nearly as cool as the jittery window idea. Whoever did that first, you get props, man.
And the grand finale, a gigantic ski jump being built right outside the exhibition space, for something completely unrelated. I guess they're going to cover it with fake snow. But I have no idea where the people are going to land.
