Years ago I came across a study looking at termite mounds as a structural system for future human habitats. I was totally intrigued. Well, some crazy progress seems to have been made in this department. In times of manic urbanization and climate change, Eugene Tsui is proposing a two-mile high, one-mile wide termite tower -- the Ultima Tower -- “designed to be virtually impervious to wind, water and earthquakes, the massive tower is conceived less as an architecture project but as a series of mini-ecosystems within which other architectural projects can be developed.” Oh, and it should be able to hold up to a million inhabitants. but why??... why?? ohh my god why??
Why?
Because we are destroying the planet thats WHY.
Put us all in a cell like this, it might be hell, but we'll save poor old mother earth.
you mean you save poor earth by imposing more destruction on it...
What human beings lack nowadays is
"just a little bit of modesty"
So there actually is the opportunity for some ad hoc urbanism to happen within it. That's what I dislike most about this kind of mega proposal - a totally pre-conceived and unchangeable built environment really would make me feel like a bug.
I was taking the Pi$$.
I dont buy into the global warming hype. In fact scientists are not even sure it is happening, never mind that we are to blame.
The fact is however, that all sorts of laws, such as the carbon tax rubbish is going to make life hell for everyone.
didn't Beck sing about being a termite?
hehe... fleas van der rohe...
why would they still need the 'antenna' advantage?
I think this says it all
I wonder if he means spontaneous urbanism such as this:

And luckily he even designed clothing for the few times you'd have to venture outside of the tower:
"Come on everybody now, dress like a jedi"

From the blubulism of it all I'd say he went to SCI-Arc.
Actually, from looking closer at his bio I'd say he is the Aleksey Vayner of architecture.
