in Boston has announced that the opening of its new $51 million home, originally scheduled for Sept. 17, has been postponed because of construction delays. NYT l Boston Globe
I still think that while this is a very interesting building and will probably increase the visibility and certainly the space of the ICA, moving it from the intown Boylston Street location to literally down by the docks (in one of the saddest landscapes in Boston) is truly unfortunate. so long foot traffic, hello disconnection from the city.
But FLM, they are hoping to promote foot traffic in the Fort Point Area. It's a bit unweildy of an area for traffic to reach Boylston St levels, yeah, but I admire the effort to reach out to what is a funky and creative part of the city. Also, Boston is very oddly disconnected from it's harbor roots--thanks to the Dig and other changes like this I hope that we can bring back the sense that this is a city on the edge of an ocean.
Besides, the Boylston location was just TOO TINY! I think they're keeping it, anyway, aren't they?
