Now that my objective journalism is aside, I say, Amen! Reassuring to know we aren't an isolated pocket of Child-beating miscreants, and that people with "establishment" voices share our frustration as well.
I say remove the toothpick and the token reference to 1776 feet as well as the now meaningless "Freedom Tower" name. These are just embarrasing pretentions on a global scale.
If we can't start over, let this building be what it is, a banal, least- common-denomiantor, commercial office container. It can't shoulder the burden symbolizing anything more.

*sorry, that should be Childs-beating, not Child-beating.*
