[Harvard's Birthday Cake. Graphic from The Harvard Crimson.]
Well, this year the GSD turns 75 years old, and Harvard turns 375. Big parties all around, pecha kucha lectures from alumni and faculty, and lots of alumni in town for the weekend of events. Yo-Yo Ma performed in the yard yesterday, despite the rain that turned everything into mud. How do they expect us to work around here when there are marshmallows on sticks and champagne every day?
[Marshmallows on sticks. I'm trying not to eat so much sugar these days so I did not indulge.]
[Chocolate covered gooey cream. This, however, I deemed sufficiently healthy for consumption.]
[It was grand.]
[Even though the GSD's cake was not as big as Harvard's.]
[Nifty interactive projection in the GSD 075 exhibition: you can flip through the images and documents by putting your hand on them.]
Seriously, though, there was a big event in Piper today with presentations from alumni and current professors and students, with participation from Harry Cobb (AB '47, MArch '49), Jeanne Gang (MArch '93), Peter Christensen (MDesS '09, PhD '15), and the delightful Hallie Chen (MArch '12). I heard it was good, but couldn't go...I was Arup, correcting structures midterms and gawking at their enormous Revit model of an airport in Saudi Arabia...very possibly the largest Revit model made to date. It was large.
Thanks for looking!
