Foster + Partners wins Cardiff Interchange competition
Foster + Partners will be designing the new central bus station in the city of Cardiff in Wales. The firm is no stranger to Cardiff, as they have a few built structures there already and, quite coincidentally, are also working on the larger Central Square regeneration masterplan.
Register now for 100%DESIGN: Design in Colour, happening this September
Registration is open for the UK'S largest tradeshow 100%DESIGN, which is prepping for its 2015 installment: "Design in Colour". 100%DESIGN will place at a new location in Olympia London this September.
Winners of the Boston Living with Water competition
Three top-prize winners were announced for Boston Living with Water. The competition sought design strategies for three specific sites that could strengthen Boston's resiliency to rising sea levels. By the year 2100, the city is projected to experience up to 5-6 feet of saltwater flooding.
Winners of 2015 NSW Architecture Awards announced in Sydney
The Australian Institute of Architects revealed the winning projects across 12 categories for the 2015 NSW (New South Wales) Architecture Awards. The annual program shows off some of the best projects in NSW's burgeoning architecture scene. (Pictured: Westmead Millennium Institute by BVN)
Hollyhock House, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, drought designs win in L.A. Architectural Awards
The Los Angeles Architectural Awards reeled in another fun mix of winners this year, including Frank Lloyd Wright's restored Hollyhock House, Renzo Piano's Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the U.S. Courthouse in Downtown L.A., and the 8600 Wilshire luxury apartments in Beverly Hills.
Cal Poly Pomona student team wins 2015 Julius Shulman Award for the first time
In the past four years, the the L.A. Architectural Awards also hosts the Julius Shulman Emerging Talent Award Competition for architecture students coming from six top architecture schools in Los Angeles County. The Cal Poly Pomona team secured the top prize for their proposal in redesigning South L.A.'s neglected early 20th-century Wetland Park Facility for reuse.
Recap: A+D Museum celebrates grand reopening at new space in L.A.‘s Arts District
After a colorful farewell in the "Beyond Graffiti 2" exhibition at the old space along Wilshire Boulevard, the A+D Museum was off to a festive start at its grand reopening party in its new home in Downtown L.A.
