Kuehn Malvezzi’s winning team design for an “Insectarium” in Montreal
Berlin-based practice Kuehn Malvezzi had the winning design for the Insectarium as part of the Espace pour la Vie botanical gardens' three-project competition in Montreal, Canada. Also check out Saucier + Perrotte Architectes' entry for the Glass Pavilion.
Steven Holl Architects to design Mumbai City Museum North Wing in star-studded competition
Out of a super-star list of competitors, a team led by Steven Holl Architects won the competition to design the $44.3 million North Wing — or the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum — of the Mumbai City Museum, one of India's leading cultural institutions.

Moshe Safdie wins the 2015 AIA Gold Medal
Moshe Safdie won the 2015 IA Gold Medal. Voted on annually, the AIA Gold Medal is regarded as the architecture profession's highest honor given to an individual. The medal honors an individual's body of work that created a lasting impact on architectural practice and theory. Archinectors had mixed reactions to Safdie's selection.
Ehrlich Architects wins 2015 AIA Architecture Firm Award; Peter Eisenman takes the Topaz Medallion
The same day AIA announced Moshe Safdie as the 2015 Gold Medallist, Ehrlich Architects also won the 2015 Architecture Firm Award. Peter Eisenman won the 2015 AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion; Edward Mazria got the 2015 Kemper Award; and student-led Rural Studio won the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award.

Brian Sell of Moody Nolan Architects wins Nelson Mandela Memorial competition
One year after the passing of the late Nelson Mandela on December 5, 2013, the winning proposal of the Nelson Mandela Memorial Design Competition was revealed. The Nelson Mandela Foundation invited all U.S. residents over the age of 13 to design a permanent memorial in San Mateo, California that honors Mandela's legacy.
The winning design of Canada’s National Memorial to Victims of Communism
ABSTRAKT Studio Architecture's design will be realized to become Canada's National Memorial to Victims of Communism. The memorial will pay tribute to the more than 100 million people worldwide who suffered or perished under communist dictatorship and educate the public about its dark history.
