Frei Otto named as 2015 Pritzker Prize laureate, one day after his untimely death
Best known for his lightweight structural style and his collaborative, holistic approach to architecture, celebrated German architect Frei Otto was publicly announced as the 2015 Pritzker Prize, one day after he passed away.
Sixty-eight buildings shortlisted for RIBA London Awards 2015
RIBA announced the 68 shortlisted buildings for the RIBA London Awards 2015, which reflect the organization's mission of honoring design excellence throughout the United Kingdom. ADEPT to design new Flensburg city gate in German-Danish border
Copenhagen-based ADEPT won first prize to design a new urban development in the Bahnhofstrasse of Flensburg in Germany. The mixed use development will feature various brick facades as a nod to the Flensburg's historic brick buildings.
Winners of the 2015 Civic Trust Awards
Established in 1959, the awards celebrate projects around the world that exhibit design excellence, sustainability, and social and environmental influence. Along with 91 Civic Trust Award and Commendation winners, eight projects earned Special Awards in recognition of outstanding credentials in specific areas. Winners of the L.A. Conservancy 2015 Preservation Awards
The Los Angeles Conservancy's annual Preservation Awards recognize individuals and groups for their outstanding achievements in L.A. Belatchew Arkitekter’s HagaTwist chosen as winning Stockholm building design
Belatchew Arkitekter's HagaTwist, which was selected as the winner in an invite-only competition, will be a new addition in the developing region of Hagastaden in Stockholm. The multifunctional space is set to begin construction early next year.
Henry Cobb + SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss to discuss Hypostyle experiment on April 2
Based on the hypostyles of ancient eras, the Hypostyle installation by Henry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects is a site-specific experiment that alters the hypostyle's traditionally columnar spatial experience with planar elements to shape new forms.
NY Transportation Landmarks 50th anniversary exhibition to open on March 14
Stop by at the NY Transit Museum's Gallery Annex in Grand Central Terminal for the New York Transportation Landmarks exhibition, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the New York's Landmarks Law. The exhibition highlights both NYC's well known and largely unknown transit landmarks.
