Perched in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, Maria Residence interior renovation brings the outside inside. Initially, the project consisted of bringing clarity and design intuition to the installation of an aluminum base reveal. Around doors and along stairs, the reveal traces a path through the interior. Celebrating the threshold and detail resolving, a flat aluminum trim tracing the perimeter of the opening perpendicularly intersects and caps the reveal. Taking advantage of existing aligned hardwood floors throughout the entire house, hardwood boards were laid for the risers and runners of the steps to generate a waterfall landscape effect. Showcasing the design logic, hardwood flooring flows up, over, and down the main stairwell balcony. Other interior design solutions included: guestroom closet and entryway, kitchen cabinetry, three fireplaces, and outdoor living space balcony.
