Córdoba, as every centric city, has a center and a periphery. In this case, the limit of the periphery is a ring-shaped freeway called the “Circunvalación”. As Córdoba has low density, its future growth should be “inside this ring” where distributing services is cheaper. So as to motivate this inner sprawl, the city shouldn´t have all the services piled up in center, there should be more centers. Córdoba should be a Multi-Polar City. Fortunately, the city is already divided into jurisdictions that, through buildings called C.P.C (Communal Participation Center), distributes the administration services. However, a Pole is not made of only one building, it´s the sum of diverse buildings what shapes a zone. That´s a P.C.P (Peripheral Cultural Pole), a zone that includes the C.P.C, distributes not only administration but also cultural, educational and housing services, thought to be the pillars of a society.
The first P.C.P to be built would be the one of Rancagua, where the lowest levels of education were found. So, in three selected terrains there were distributed the three programs: Cultural, as Cultural Ateliers; Educational, as an Arts and Crafts School; and Housing, as a controlled-dense neighborhood. The design of all the Buildings would be ruled by the same idea: Timelessness Boxes in constant friction with the Public Space. Finally, a mixed concrete structural system was developed so as to find a balance between the speed of pre-cast systems and the economy of the cast in situ ones. Like “legos” the empty pieces would join each other conforming lost formworks later filled up with concrete cast in situ.
