Sure, god bless babies, but rebuke the idiots that continue to spawn without thinking. More babies does not make this world a better place.

the real problem are the ethical issues involved in IVF, they dipstick doctors >IMPLANTED 8 EMBRYOS< 8! 8?!!!

most drs won't do more than 3 or 4, and if they do feel the need to do more, they are supposed to walk the mother through selective reduction.

dicks.

an epic is at least three hours long and often requires a flip of the dvd. the story usually spans generations. makeup is involved to make actors look older/old...a memorable theme song is required. usually someone is trying to get back to someone or something that they lost in their youth. usually someone british must be involved.

I guess my favorite epic would be the Godfather trilogy, or at least the first two films. (Godfather III was a decent movie, but it doesn't match the first two.) No Brits, though.

yes godfather is an excellent example minus the british actors. other non british epics include off the top of my pinhead,,,giant, little big man(which may not be epic in length but meets other criteria) citizen kane, the magnificent ambersons, the searchers.

Hahaha I love Little Big Man but don't think of it as epic?

On the 8-embryo lady: I believe the UK has recently enacted legislation to prevent the over-planting of women's uterus(es? ii?) with multiple embryos.

I'm TOTALLY FOR licensing of parents. I'm totally against anyone having more than a few kids.

And, this is a big thing: while motherhood/pregnancy/reproduction etc. is all wonderful, I feel we still live in a world that tells women this ability is the most important thing about them and therefore a lot of women who don't feel much self-esteem see it as an easy route to feeling "meaningful".

lb, I think youre going the right direction, but I dont think its society telling them that. I think its their own psyche. I mean, many women have children because they want to be loved unconditionally, and children tend to do that. Its instant love. I think that must be her issue. If she just liked to be pregnant, then she could make bukus of bucks as a surogate. And to have all these things donated to her, UHG! There are many more people out there who need this stuff. My sitter thinks she's just looking for a tv deal.

Unfortunatly, my plans changed, and I wont be watching EP tonight. Can The Sound Of Music be considered an Epic? I realize its not terribly deep, but it fits in every other way, and they do it with music!

I think Sound of Music is an epic, and I LOVE that movie! Just watched it over Christmas beak, in fact. it's the only musical I can sing almost every song along with the film. And maybe Rocky Horror, those it's been a few years since I listened to that sound track. Oh, and Nightmare Before Christmas I can sing most of.

Maybe I do like musicals after all?

I can sing almost very song to My Fair Lady, and I sing a song from Mary-Poppins to Abram every night when I put him to bed.

Lib - any gal who digs a good RHPS score is a gal-o-mine!

'Pregnancy licensing' is a very slipper slope - but it seems as though we'll end up populating our planet to the point where, due to disease and starvation, we end up reducing population regardless.

And I'd like to take this opportunity to use the word: UTERON! Said while picturing monumental socialist architecture and the flood lights thusly associated.

"Its instant love. I think that must be her issue." Sarah, instant love?!? How can you even think with 14 kids, 8 of them just born? Hell, how can you not just drop dead on the floor?

Jan 30, 09 5:05 pm  ·
 ·
Sarah Hamilton

Huh, Emilio? I meant the kids give her instant love, despite her short-comings; its unconditional. I'm saying that maybe, perhaps, she has a hole that she is trying to fill. That she had the first kid to feel loved and accepted, but didn't get what she needed. The hole was still there, and so she had another, and another, and another, just trying to fill the hole.

Obviously, I can't really say what her true motives are, I've never met her, but based on her already having six kids, and then using fertility assistence to get another one, thats my theory. The fact that she carried all 8 to term I get. Its that she used fertility to get more in the first place that I dont get.

Well, for most people, one, two, or three kids provide true back and forth love and interaction. Once the numbers go up to that level it becomes, like someone I know who is from a very large family said, like running a sports team.

I'm from a large family....my mom always said, "No one elses kids fight like you kids." The six pack in the end turned out for the most part all right. I learned from that lesson....two dog kids....and no human kids.

Air India isn't that bad, LIG. It's not the best airline I've been on but, by no means, was it bad.

My great-grandmother had 17 kids. She died during childbirth. My grandmother (her daughter, total badass of a woman) had 3 sets of twin siblings. Oh Catholicism...

I can't wait to adopt my babies. It won't be happening for a while (and by 'a while' I mean 10+ years) but I'm going to adopt 'em, love 'em, spoil 'em, and send them to their grandparents when I need a break. Amen.

I have friends and family who have horror stories. But that is back in the 70s and 80s.

I will always recall a back yard conversation with my uncle who has made a s**t load of money during his life. "It they knew where we grew up in a house smaller than the U-Bomber, you think we would be crazy." Lives with big families and little means have brought this country big things.

I heard today that the 400 hundred richest people in this country saw a 20 % increase in their wealth in 2006.....I coughed...while the rest of us were on a slide. What pissed me off more is they are paying 17% on taxes.....screw ing us paying 28%.

wanna bet they saw a loss as much as that or even more in the past year snook? not that they can't afford it. losing 20% of 50 billion is painful but the remainder is still pretty good.

hello all.

vado like your formulaic thoughts about epics I think there exist similar ones for a good romantic comedy. You need a blonde, at least one British actor (often Emma Thompson or Hugh Grant - even better if you have both), inappropriate touching followed by some bumbling - typically done by the brit, a wedding, a car scene in an unusually ugly foreign vehicle, and some post-credit dramatic laughing

As you asked, Sarah, yes we did get the dog. Chica:

She's 3 years old and we got her thorugh bull terrier rescue, she was given up by her former owner who couldn't spend any time with her and left her chained outside all the time. Now she's happily sleeping on our couch with her head in my lap. it's nice to have another girl in the house!

Our last dog, Gus, was a bully too and it is amazing to see the breed similarities. Every bully I've known has been so similar, but she's a little less headstrong than Gus, and a total sweetie. I absolutely love her already, and Angus is so excited..

I'm glad I gave in!

Growing up a Bengals fan, I find it difficult to root for the Steelers. However, the more I read about them the more I (begrudingly) like them. It doesn't help that Obama is a fan as well. Therefore I will make like Sweden today and remain neutral.

I don't even know who's (uhoh...whose? No, I think it's possessive, right? Or rather, a possessive form used as a contraction? See this is evidence of the things I think about which is why I don't even know who is) playing tonight.
