Craig's Bond is very much like the Dalton Bond. Even down to the supposed increase in violence.
Dalton is a lot like John Belushi. He can say quite a bit with just a facial expression. Craig does a bit of that, too. I just don't think he's quite as good at it.
It is evident we need more beer talk, that is for sure.
I might have to watch a few Bond movies today... although I have painful memories recalling my second year studio prof criticizing me for not being fluent in such things. Who knew you needed to have Bond watching experience to be an architect!?! highschoolers, pay attention, this is what is important, not calculus!
I'd argue that a working knowledge of the James Bond catalog has been far more beneficial to my career than calculus.
For the record I like Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Best Bond movie ever. I happened to catch it on its opening day in Los Angeles, and the coolest thing about watching a newly-released movie in LA is that people stay for the credits and applaud when they see somebody they know. "Look! The key grip is my roommate's buddy from college!"
Craig captures the Fleming character - a blunt instrument. Still love Connery, though. Set the tone for a couple of generations, many of whom still style themselves after him. And he turned into a solid actor once he broke the stereotype.
Saw a couple of great Spanish films this week. Living is Easy With Eyes Closed is a beautiful character piece set in 1966. Wild Tales is a riotous collection of apocalyptic tales, great black comedy.
tintt, i've been working towards the perfect pale ale. i go into the beer store and everyone else is like 'darker, more hops, more bitter, more alcolhol' and i'm like, 'lighter, less hops, less bitter, less alcohol.' what kind of beers do you brew?
curt, we have been doing it for a few years now and have tried several different kinds. American amber and red ales seem to come out best for us, do more of those than others. Made a copy of Sawtooth Ale by Lefthand Brewing which turned out good. Did an oatmeal stout which was very good. An IPA and a double IPA. A Pils. My father-in-law started growing hops and we brew with it and it is one-of-a-kind so not in any recipes or other brews you might know and so we have some true family original recipes here too, which may or may not turn out but 99% are quaffable regardless. What is your recipe? I see your vision, am interested in the same. What hops do you use for it?
i use warrior hops towards the end of the boil. higher acid hops like magnum or horizons i think at the start. i've tried a few, and i'll try a few more, but i think warrior has been my favorite so far.

over the last few months i strayed pretty far and was getting some pretty thick beers. i was libating one evening and came to a sudden realization that i was drinking beer i didn't really enjoy drinking, so i went back to basics and i've been changing stuff only a little from that recipie, but not too much. mostly different malts. this one is in a keg but i haven't tried it yet, so we'll see about the aromatic malt. also i discovered high alcohol means i can't drink as much. if i wanted to get drunk i'd start distilling like jerome suggests (which i'd like to try someday, but it's on a long list of stuff i'd like to try)
While "the wife" certainly gets frustrated at me for any number of things, to date that hasn't been one of them.
Love me some good beer, one of the many things that are exciting about living in Denver/CO now, is the large number of local craft breweries/distilleries...
i would love to try aging a beer in an oak barrel. need to get barrels for the saint bernards too.
i'd also love to make a good scotch, but waiting 12 or 15 years to see if you did it right is too much. i'm afraid the birth lottery put that one out of my reach. absinthe though, i think is possible.
hmmm... its illegal to distill in the US. Although, there are some easy bourbon recipes out there which is a distinctly American product as opposed to Scotch. No aging requirement either.
Untappd....206 different beers in 90 days so far........Trappist beer is the best. Spence is the first American Trappist - lovely beer, but their brethren Trappists in Belgium from whom they learned is the best - Westmalle Tripel
3tk just checked app thats since August so 120 days and in the month of August it was 92 because I was competing kids in their 20's....kicked their ass, except one guy was at 86 but didnt expect me to drink on a weeknight to get the edge........that was Fun!
Don’t want to say too much, but in the final years of my practice our office was in a complex that included a 4 Star restaurant and an even better bar…as I got older…and the longer I practiced…I spent more and more time in that famous bar…and it wasn’t after work.
As you get older be careful, architects are #4 on the list of the most alcohol dependent professions (Think there was a thread on this), based on the stress….I gave up the stress & the alcohol, in that order – don’t end up missing it like I do.
I loved the idea of getting registered in NY first, but as you say it doesn't really matter. I should've just changed my jurisdiction with NCARB when I moved; If I had, I probably would've already been registered a month ago.

i believe there are up to 2 or maybe 3 beers a brewery does well, but for whatever market reasons they always have to keep trying new stuff, and it's never any good. tank 7 is the rare gem where trying something new actually worked.
When I was in Seattle back in September I had the pleasure of visiting Bainbridge Organic Distillers on Bainbridge Island and sampling a bit of their product. I highly recommend the Doug Fir Gin and the Vanilla Vodka. (I'm normally skeptical of flavored vodkas. That stuff is usually reserved for your local frat house, but Bainbridge's vanilla vodka was awesome.) I'm wishing I had picked up a couple bottles when I was out there; now I'm looking around to find out how to order some online.
Company Christmas party today, gonna drink as much Peroni, Corona and Ale as possible. First time going to one with this new company, was told there is only finger food - FML what's the point anymore.....
I will go ahead and market for Spohn Associates, Inc., a local supplier and AIA sponsor, for their AIA Holiday party which for the last two years has included a bourbon tasting. They are rock stars! The nice thing about a tasting is you really can try a lot of things (I'm a bourbon purist but admit I tried a George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey that was great.) and get a nice buzz without any commitment.

But Dalton's body is too wimpy (sorry) to be as good of a fighter as Bond is supposed to be. Same with Brosnan. No skinny Bonds.

You should dry distillation...more exciting!
