Shohei Shigematsu has provided an update on the newly topped out New Museum expansion designed by OMA with Cooper Robertson. The $89 million project adds 60,000 square feet, effectively doubling the institution’s exhibition spaces while supporting a host of new programmatic inclusions for the public and arts community. OMA expects the new building to debut in 2025 alongside its SANAA-designed neighbor, whose facade's materiality is repeated while fusing laterally with the new structure on its second through fifth floors.

It looks a little like a Tesla truck. Then again, a lot of buildings these days look like Tesla trucks.

The horizontal facade fold aligning with the SANNA box datum seemlessly ties everything together /s
I prefer the old warehouse that they tore down. Its frankness allowed the SANAA building to sing by contrast. Repurposing it probably would have yielded more usable gallery space than this new annex to boot...
This actually looks like a student project i did in my 4th year undergrad (about 25 years ago)
