This project transformed the first and second floors of the existing Dewey Hall into an environment for mental and physical wellness, providing spaces for Mental Health Services and the Residential Life Department that are beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive.
Including a new exterior entrance to Mental Health, VCA’s renovation design put student services at the center of student life and supports the campus’ 2011 Master Plan by improving accessibility and connections to the campus.
This project seeked to offer a restorative sensory experience that provides users with choice and agency in the spaces. We designed counseling and office spaces, a student lounge, the residential director's apartment, and a gym. The project includes a new exterior canopy and walkway; reinforcement and reconfiguration of existing load-bearing masonry structure; extensive modifications to existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, and fire protection systems; and new AV, IT and security.
