IBM Office and Cafetorium Campus

As the Senior Design Architect working with Paul Kennon at CRSS, I was responsible for programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents and supervision of construction. This campus served the AWD and ESD Divisions of IBM in Austin, TX. The specific needs of each division were compiled and juxtaposed to develop the building footprints on the wooded site. Each of the seven office buildings contained between 150,000 SF amd 350,000 SF of office and retail space.

This award winning project included the integration of the white precast buildings with the wooded natural environment. Imperative to the conceptual solution was the requirement that the natural terrain, varying over 30 ft. in elevation, be undisturbed by the buildings. The stepping of the buildings provided a unique opportunity to weave the buildings together with a series of gently sloping arcade ramps for handicap accessibility and overhead computer cables.
