And while visionary design shows like that of MoMA are entrancing, there’s something to be said for a more down-to-earth, production-focused exhibition.

Photographer Jennifer Williams' upcoming "The High Line Effect" exhibition at the Robert Mann Gallery in New York presents the recently constructed High Line with a Dada-esque collage aesthetic, adding a twist — so to speak — to architectural photography. This latest exhibition from Williams uniquely critiques construction, while also giving commentary on real estate development, zoning laws, habitation patterns, and other urban-living and architectural issues. — bustler.net
With an interest in the growth of new luxury buildings, other current projects of Williams include Renzo Piano’s new Whitney Museum and Zaha Hadid’s proposed condominium. The opening reception will be on Oct. 24, 6-8 p.m. The exhibition can also be viewed online starting that day. View full entry

I step out into the street but realize that I’d better not — there’s a current — and as my hallway fills, I remember the electrical panel in the basement. It shorts out, and I hear the breakers fall. Then there is an explosion outside, and the neighborhood goes dark. — Places Journal
In October 2012, as Hurricane Sandy approached New York, Alexandros Washburn defied evacuation orders and stayed fast in his home in Red Hook, watching as his street flooded and became a "full-fledged river." But he had good reason; the city's chief urban designer wanted to observe first-hand... View full entry
Over 1,350 people attended this year's Beaux Arts Ball at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City on Sept. 28. League events. — bustler.net

Here's what Aaron Plewke shared with Bustler on the event: "The overall environmental effect created for this year's ball was quite successful. The white tarp-like canopies created an...
