“Wynwood Greenhouse” gets 1st place in DawnTown’s Wynwood Gateway Park Competition in Miami
"Wynwood Greenhouse" was named the 1st prize winner of DawnTown Miami's recently concluded Wynwood Gateway Park Competition, which challenged participants to design a 14,000-sq.ft urban park and garden to be realized at the Wynwood Gateway Complex near Downtown Miami.
World Architecture Festival 2014 - Last week was full of updates from the world's largest festival and live awards competition, which took place at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore once again from October 1-3. Below are some results from throughout the competition.
In the first winners announcement, the WAF "super jury" selected 16 projects as Completed Buildings and Future Projects category award winners from around the globe -- including Vietnam, Iran, Brazil, Turkey, and the UK. (Above: House for Trees in Vietnam by Vo Trong Nghia Architects.)
Thirteen more category winners in the Completed Buildings and Future Projects sections were revealed. Winners included BIG (pictured above), Neri&Hu, 5468796 Architecture, and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners with Arup Associates.
a21studio’s The Chapel in Vietnam wins the WAF World Building of the Year 2014
WAF closed on a festive note with the final top-prize winners being announced during a gala dinner and awards ceremony on October 3. Vietnamese architecture firm a21studio took home the coveted World Building of the Year 2014.
Coinciding with the World Architecture Festival was its sister competition, INSIDE: World Festival of Interiors. INSIDE highlights the top projects in the global interior design scene. Out of nine category winners, only one scooped up the World Interior of the Year 2014 award.
INSIDE: World Festival of Interiors 2014 reveals first five category winners
Starting out with 60 shortlisted nominees across nine categories earlier this summer, the first five winners were revealed on Day 1. A few selected projects also received a Highly Commended award. Above: Category Winner - Retail - Cultura Bookstore in Sao Paulo by studio mk27.
Second set of winners announced for INSIDE: World Festival of Interiors 2014

Joyce Wang Studio’s MOTT32 in Hong Kong wins World Interior of the Year 2014
The top prize went to the 10-person practice of Joyce Wang Studio for MOTT32, a underground bank vault-turned-restaurant in Hong Kong.

“DEFACED” responds to the controversial demolition of 5 POINTZ
The "5 Pointz" graffiti mecca in Long Island City, NY, and its recent controversial demolition continues to be a hot topic in regards to gentrification and cultural preservation. In response to the demolition, Arianna Armelli, Ishaan Kumar, David Sepulveda, and Wagdy Moussa came up with the idea of DEFACED, an organization that works to preserve cultural landmarks, districts, and neighborhoods around the world.
