The project is a bit deceptive, it's located in Thailand, the architects are not.
The most interesting facet of this is that in the interior there's a two-ton steel counterweight, as the counterweight drops slowly throughout the evening it powers the interior lighting. By the time morning arrives the weight has completely fallen and the local residents use an albino buffalo to hoist the counterweight back up for the next evening's power.
Actually I think that last one is R&Sie's Hybrid Muscle. I think it was part of a collective artist endeavour in which tirivanija and phillipe pareno also participated.
for the current one, I'm guessing german, in the sort of o.m. ungers tradition?
I remember seeing that Berlin housing project in an issue of Detail (or AIT?) not that long ago... But I cannot remember any information about it, unfortunately. It looks pretty cool, though...
agreed, i keep thinking about how stoked I'd be if i was younger and that was my house, for some reason getting on to the roof was always the most exciting thing. plus you'd have a killer hill to sled down in the winter.
Love the ironwork(?). Hasn't modernism taken an interesting turn ? Whatever the material, that "greenery" should age and weather attractively, I imagine, becoming even more naturalistic over time. . .?
... I feel a bit stupid posting it. This thread is a good opportunity to show generally unknown work. However, I can't find any more pictures of this particular project.
Name that Architect and Building!!!
When was the museum built ?
'92
nonesense, citrus.

that site totally lied to me, then...
yes, german. ungers... not so much, maybe a re-interpretation. but closer to otto steidle.
interestingly enough, i learned today that ungers was a student of egon eiermann
hint #2: in the town of the fernsehturm
great first contribution, citrus. not just a bull. an albino bull.
no idea on holz's...
Won an award in 2000 for forward-looking housing…

Ok, maybe harder than I thought… I’ve just got some direct ties…
It’s three houses, becher + rottkamp architekten
Someone else want to post? I’ve got to get some finish a ton o' stuff
time to resurrect this thread with a little barn on the country side:
nice! uk?
NL, in the "flower city"
Sweet. Note matching roof pitch.
some assorted projects by the same office just to keep this going:
phuyaka..i absolutely love the photo of the kid running up the roof / ramp / wall / house
agreed, i keep thinking about how stoked I'd be if i was younger and that was my house, for some reason getting on to the roof was always the most exciting thing. plus you'd have a killer hill to sled down in the winter.
any takers on the barn?
got it...
onix...schuur, haarlem...the flower city hint helped...
they have a great "staff" page...interesting projects...give me a few minutes...i will come up w/ somethign...
yes! good sleuthing. I really like their dutch-country-side aesthetic, reminds me of marlon blackwell and the like here in the states.
the second-life staff page is also pretty funny.
up next...
and an interesting section:
this thread is starting to go in cycles, check the bottom of this page
phuyaka...F3 (o-SNAP)..maybe that's where i got it from...i will come up w/ something soon...if anyone else has something, feel free to post...
here's a friday afternoon softball:
maybe not as easy as i thought it would be...
clues:
-located in the northeast (bldg and firm)
-it floats!
-2 partner practice, both also teach
definitely know who it is, but no time to post another right now. one of their other buildings showed up a while back in this thread i believe
ok well it's mos, and i think holz posted the Ancram Studio awhile back:
simples you have another one?
in an attempt to popularize this thread again, here is one from a more known architect...sorry for the delayed response...i was actually working!
hint (if anyone is watching): it's an embassy;
would this thread be more popular if we posted an image of Obama?
only if he's wearing a yale shirt
Love the ironwork(?). Hasn't modernism taken an interesting turn ? Whatever the material, that "greenery" should age and weather attractively, I imagine, becoming even more naturalistic over time. . .?
Erick van Egeraat: Dutch Embassy in Warzaw
I'm not gonna break my habit of posting massive concrete buildings. This one is tricky, but "awesome":
a-f...looks great...but you gotta post a couple more images...
For all the people like me who haven't been able to name a building recently.
and I don't care if its not my turn :P~
Barc Pav. Thanks ! Now, about that a-f --- more pics !
architechno, that's my guest house...and that's my car... : P
the barcelona pavillion is still the richest architectural experience per square foot (imho)
when i squint, it looks like peter gluck, but i can't tell

Board-formed concrete made to LOOK like board-formed concrete is always tasty. . .
