Yeah they definitely do, I saw the just came out with a monograph... "processed geometries"... but I don't think it'll be too easy to track down stateside.
I know Holz i saw that.. i might have to run to my local arch book shop today and see what they think. I'd be interested to see if they have any writings or if it's all pretty pictures.. either way..
mleitner...S(ch)austall is exactly what i needed today...this thread has been such an incredible sources of pleasant breaks in my routine...
incredible building...
holz...i am not sure of that slate application on your church in norway (is it?)...it makes the slate seem almost banal and cold from a distance...and it seems like such a warm church too...
korjata... which is why it won a copper in architecture design award. some really nice details in there. I do like a lot of their renovations, especially this one in Suomenlinna:
i agree! it's well worth the trip. while we are waiting for an AP post, can anyone guess which very famous piece of portuguese architecture this picture is from? to speed things up, it's by Siza.
Name that Architect and Building!!!
There's a town of the same name in Switzerland.
an an arch firm as well!
Holz, resolve it to keep the thread moving.
I'm off to lunch.
fnp architekten, S(ch)austall
i love this project...
i know that building - it was a reno featured in AR in 2005 its by FNP architects and its a showroom in Germany
is that slate?
shit 9 minutes too late
i assume it's norwegian slate. that detail is reminiscent of honan-allston library by machado silvetti...
hey, atp's back. any clues on that storage center? no one had any idea....
reminds me a lot of Jensen & Skodvin's Mortensrud Church.. but a different slate application, is it Norwegian?
close. Mortensrud is a dry stack set in a steel frame.
yes, norsk
ah whaddaya know, same architects. Jensen & Skodvin, Tautra Maria convent, Tautra
werd. they have some solid projects completed, and the budgets weren't insane either.
Yeah they definitely do, I saw the just came out with a monograph... "processed geometries"... but I don't think it'll be too easy to track down stateside.
let's keep it sacred:
10 years ago I would have said, this is bound to be in Finland.
whoa. nice.
the book is only $35US.
it's shipping that'll kill.
I rec. finding a retailer (that gets 50% off - wtf?) and having them order a few copies...
i think it is
mietner... and today you'd still be correct.
I know Holz i saw that.. i might have to run to my local arch book shop today and see what they think. I'd be interested to see if they have any writings or if it's all pretty pictures.. either way..
there are cut sheets from the book you can DL on the JSA website

vikki church in helsinki by jkmm architects?
its all wood i think...
ah good guess, i actually think the vikki church is a little nicer then this one.
I was pretty surprised when I saw this firm's other work, this project seems way better then the majority of their portfolio.
ok, its Laajasalo by Kari Jarvinen Ja Merja Nieminen Architects then
and the cladding is painted copper

i just creamed my jeans...
happy friday
me too - that's incredible.
Hmm no one figured out mine eh? Sigh...I guess it was too hard. If anyone needs a guess its in the Uk.
uh oh, off the main page... smelly, no clue on your cavernous abode, and techno still no clue on the uk storage box.. more hints from either?
is smelly's in AUS?
mine is europe, i am trying to find some more pictures to post....
smelly...fells like an island to me...iceland?! ireland?!
i like the stone work, but am struggling with the overall shape of the "house" (?) especially as it seems to end abruptly (first image)
simples, you're on the right track but it's not a house.
phuyaka you are right it is a storage box...its actually by Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects
next...
ya smelly, if you can't find more of that building, maybe post another project by the same architect...i def. like what i see so far.
sorry these are kind of crappy, i had to scan them. here are some clues to program since it is definitely not a house.
a possible resolution to simples' problem with the building ending abruptly?
let's try that middle image again:
Saw this in E2:Design and was amazed! Used more than 600,000 pounds of recycled material including a strip of scrap highway concrete.

portugal it is!
Gruta das Torres Visitor Centre
Ines Vieira da Silva, Miguel Vieira
you're right, AP!
here's a short article about the project and a few more images i found

i agree! it's well worth the trip. while we are waiting for an AP post, can anyone guess which very famous piece of portuguese architecture this picture is from? to speed things up, it's by Siza.
