Now, I knew this was going to stump everybody - or someone would get it immediately.
The biggest hint I can give you, is that this building has been documented only once as far as I know, and it was done as 1 part of a 2 part volume. The other documented building was the Casa Malaparte. One very famous photographer [and fahsion designer] was the author...
Sorry about the difficulty of this one, but I had it up my sleeve for some time to give p2an and others a had time... ;)

Shin-Yatsushiro Monument
"...Inui is perhaps best known for her facades—each one a visual pun or optical illusion. She made the elevation for Dior in Ginza out of two overlapping sheets of aluminum, dotting the outer layer with perforations so they replicate the woven pattern of Thonet’s famous chair that Christian Dior adapted as his signature motif..."

The House in the Trees, not sure by who though.
And it is in a small village outside of Rome.
I correct myself. It is La Casa Albero Nella Pineta di Fregene, designed by Perugini.

I have been intrigued by this building since I saw it in this book
And off you go Kungapa, or defer.

I was thinking Japan too, but that front wall looks european - like a re-use.

It's in Japan. I really like this project (and the architect).
Actually that might not help so much, so I take the opportunity to post some eye-candy from another project by the same architect:
that's Kumiko Inui, i think.
