The fast-moving Palisades Fire has reached the grounds of the Getty Villa, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Flames were reported approaching structures late Tuesday afternoon. The museum, originally designed to replicate a Roman villa and extensively renovated by SPF:a and Machado Silvetti, includes galleries, conservation facilities, and a 500-seat amphitheater. The site houses over 44,000 Greek and Roman antiquities and remains closed to the public.
Other architecturally significant structures in the area, including homes by Richard Neutra and Cliff May, are also at risk as the fire continues to grow. This is a developing story.
Update 5:57pm PST:
Today, a brush fire started in Pacific Palisades fueled by extremely high winds.

A fast-spreading inferno is threatening L.A., and it is hard to imagine a large-scale urban fire. Winds are picking up everywhere. It will be one long night for everyone.
Charles Moore-designed St Matthews Episcopal Church is also at risk. As the fates would have it, Moore received this commission after the previous church building was lost to fire... Yes, it is shaping up to be a long night in LA.
Safe landings to all our friends in SoCal displaced by these ongoing fires!
Scary conditions that aren’t over — stay safe!
