In design schools creativity is nurtured in many ways, but especially in different moments and spaces. INDA involves an heterogeneous set of curricular and extracurricular activities, but a large part of its inspiration comes from the community of students and instructors through their spontaneous interactions.
This workshop was aimed to experiment, design and realize school support components and devices for the new studio spaces of INDA at Chulapat 14 building, trying to explore and promote the value of seemingly (un)necessary spaces of “informal” creative exchange.
After studying a series of design education spaces and the way they encouraged informal and serendipitous exchange, a few devices have been designed and developed in order to: provide support for gathering through reconfigurable and interlocking seating/display volumes; showcase opportunities around the studio circulation spaces; and facilitating the sharing/recycling of leftover fabrication materials by a freestanding display rack, featuring large logo-shaped shelving.
