This steeply-sloped site presented a challenge to the program, which called for full gut renovation down to the foundation, and an expansion of the living room towards the rear, pressing into the hillside. A series of stone retaining walls and strategic terraces provided the space needed, while a consistent overhang at the front of the house allowed a shadow line to match the long rake of the sloped ipe roof fascia. A series of rectangular painted metal columns further add depth to the previously bland facade.
