I witnessed history this week.
I watched the first black man accept the role of President of the United States of America and I couldn't be more stunned, amazed, silenced, relieved, proud, rejuvenated, excited...
To go to Grant Park and to sit with my peers was an affirmation that the future of this country is not what the news reports or the pie-chart of a stodgy op/ed columnist. Not because of the fact that Obama was elected, but that so many different people will come together in support of one effort. The crowd was so respectful and aware; conversations were not about Paris Hilton or US Weekly but of real issues that actually impact the world.
I haven't heard any numbers as to how many people turned out, but I have not seen a crowd that large in my lifetime.
I could continue to sing the praises of November 4 but I'll spare you and just show you the images that I took prior to my camera's battery running out.
Best Hair:
The returns and Obama's speech were shown on this large jumbo-tron
The real stage is the large bluish light.

That first image is great, with the Spertus facade sitting coolly in the background. Did you get tickets to the event? I've been wondering how the ticketed event actually differed from the non-ticketed.
I did not have tickets to the event, but I feel like I had a better experience in the non-ticketed areas. I've been told that it was so packed closer to the stage that it was uncomfortable. In our section we had room to sit or stand when needed, since we were there for hours. The only difference is that I didn't actually see Obama, I just saw his projection.
Thanks for the photos!
