Situated in-between the existing 1992 Olympic airport and the Mediterranean sea, the T1 is Barcelona´s brand new terminal, with a capacity for thirty million passengers a year. T1 is conceived as one dynamic space under a huge vibrant roof; one space with two main areas, the processor and the piers. The main hall processor has a wing-like roof with curvilinear skylights, the central pier is like an aircraft seven hundred metres long, with two side piers, or wings. The aerodynamic language, all views opening directly to the airport apron and the interior courtyards, the functional flexibility and the spatial clarity around a strictly symmetrical composition, are the main features of the new hub airport archetype.
