The Frost School of Music is a national music leader in higher education, pre- senting over 350 performances per year and working to enhance the cultural richness of Miami and the surrounding regions of South Florida. Continuous- ly recognizing the need to create more flexibility, appropriately sized venues to accommodate a range of performances, and upgraded technology, the University is building a new facility that includes a 200 seat recital hall, large ensemble rehearsal room and support areas. The design includes creates a prominent, cantilevered structure sited on a sliver of space at the edge of Lake Osceola. A large transparent glass lobby maximizes the site’s vantage point, setting the stage with a picturesque backdrop while also creating the opportunity for viewing the performance from the outdoors.
Rodrigo joined the team to produce the contract documents. His responsi- bilities include creating the overall floor plans and reflected ceiling plans. He produced details for the GFRC panel geometry at the recital hall facade, acoustical walls within the rehearsal room, the acoustical wood ceiling at the recital hall and millwork details throughout the building.
