Karma GT

Pininfarina partnered with Southern California-based automaker Karma Automotive, the producer of luxury electric vehicles, to design the Karma GT, or “Gran Turismo”. Eager to create a more assertive vehicle incorporating elements of the Italian sports car flair, Pininfarina designed the luxurious, green technology-equipped, two-door coupe, using a design scheme that features simplified surface language, relaxed shoulders, a softer feature line, and flush door handles.

An elegant contrasting black roof complements the bone gray paint. The front-end appears more aggressive, with a symmetrically-slatted grille and squinty LED headlights. The outside corners of the front fascia kick upward to match the dramatically styled, cross-cutting rocker panels. A pair of boomerang-shaped LED tail lights frame an elegant, structured back-end. White and off-white leathers blanket the bright, inviting interior, while luxurious burgundy piping creates an exciting contrast with the creamy leather. The seats feature a new quilting scheme to emphasize the sensation of comfort. Components of soft, velvet-like nubuck and satin aluminum trim exude modernity with a hint of old-world sophistication. Multi-tone stitching enhances the carefully curated interior, while a small, embossed Italian flag on the seat backrests is a playful reminder of the car’s origin.
