Casa Maru is a new residential design situated in Monterrey
on the site of a previous existing residence.
The site has been reclaimed without any loss to
the existing oak mountain forest. The residence is
organized as a series of pavilions connected by an internal
masonry spine. The program includes: living
area, kitchen, dining, sleeping quarters, and a studio.
For the design, local building materials and passive
climatic strategies were explored: water reclamation,
natural day-lighting, embracing of the sloped site
and views offered from the forest and into the forest.
Sited on a mountainside, the building overlooks the city
of Monterrey.
