We're always very excited to discover new work by Swiss artist, Zimoun, known for his "architecturally-minded platforms of sound." What had been planned by the MAK in Vienna as a major retrospective of Austrian architect Hans Hollein will now also serve as a posthumous tribute. Hollein died last week, less than a month after celebrating his 80th birthday.
Curated by Wilfried Kuhn and Marlies Wirth and entitled simply "Hollein," the exhibition will run June 25 through Oct. 5.

It was 75 years ago—the year Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz were released and World War II began—that Los Angeles's lovely Union Station first opened for business. There was a big Downtown celebration on May 3, 1939 to mark the opening of what is viewed as the nation's last great rail station, and Ward Kimball, an award-winning Disney animator and part-time rail nerd (one of Disney's Nine Old Men and the man who created Tweedledee/Tweedledum and Jiminy Cricket), filmed the occasion. — la.curbed.com

The Santiago Calatrava: The Metamorphosis of Space exhibition celebrated its grand opening at the Braccio di Carlo Magno in Vatican City today.

"A to Z" by acclaimed Brazilian architect and designer Isay Weinfeld is his first U.S. exhibition, which opened on Nov. 12 at the ESPASSO gallery in New York City.
Celebrating Weinfeld's 40th year in practice, the retrospective features two exhibition pieces he made from sustainable tauari branco wood, a showcase of his furniture and product designs, and 13 new films he directed over the past year [...].
