Continuing with Archinect's Spring 2022 Get Lectured series, the University of Southern California (USC) Architecture shares its lineup of lectures and events in March and April.
The school's "ARCHITECTURE ENGAGED" series features a collection of symposiums, talks, exhibitions, and events for the Spring season. The school shares that this Spring's lecture programming "engages the Los Angeles community and the global public in innovative thought, practice, and social impact - by connecting architecture thinking to systemic challenges for individuals, cities, and regions."
In January, the school welcomed lectures from Brandi Thompson Summers, Assistant Professor of Geography and Global Metropolitan Studie at UC Berkeley and co-director of the Berkeley Lab for Speculative Urbanisms (BLSU), and Behnaz Farahi architect, designer, and award-winning designer architecture/media technologist. For the month of February, Mexican architect Alberto Kalach of Taller de Arquitectura X presented his lecture on February 7. On February 28, the school welcomes Dr. Jessiva Varner, architect, activist, architectural historian, and postdoctoral fellow in the USC Society of Fellows in the Humanities .
For the month of March, architect Gary Handel of Handel Architects will present a lecture on March 7. Debra Mesa Molina of Ensamble Studio on March 21 followed by Sol Camacho, founder of São Paulo-based architecture firm RADDAR, on March 28 for this Spring's Dean's Creative Talks.
In April, Deborah Weintraub, the Los Angeles' Chief Deputy City Engineer will present a lecture on April 4 followed by a lecture from architecture theorist Mollie Claypool on April 11. Concluding their Spring lectures is a presentation from Takako Tajima, USC adjunct assistant professor, architect, and landscape architect who will present her lecture on April 18.
