Entering the new year in full swing, architecture schools prepare for their line-up of guest speakers and lectures for Spring 2022. Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture kicks off their Spring '22 public programing series: World Making. The school shares, "How are worlds made, experienced, and contested? Join us in this series of lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops to explore notions of the real, fictive, and possible."

On January 31 Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine's film BUTOHOUSE. The film paints a portrait of Japanese architect-artist Keisuke Oka who "has been building his house in the center of Tokyo alone for the past 15 years, just in front of a masterpiece by Kenzo Tange." Esteemed artist and designer Olalekan Jeyifous will lead a workshop from February 26 - February 27 and a lecture on February 28.
New York-based artist and preservationist Jorge Otero-Pailos will present his lecture: The Ethics of Dust, on March 14. The school shares, "The artworks in 'The Ethics of Dust' series isolate dust and make it tangible by transferring it from the surface of buildings onto translucent casts." A workshop titled "Design with Machine Learning" will be led by The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry from March 18 - March 20. Visiting scholar in computation design, Jordan Geiger, will present a lecture titled "Collateral Architecture" on March 24. Concluding the lectures and events for March is Jackie Joseph Paul McFarland who will present a lecture on March 31. McFarland is the 2021-22 Joseph F. Thomas Visiting Professorship whose research and creative practice "focuses on understanding and putting into context the experiences of African Americans' relationships to space and place."
From April 2 - April 3 Marina Tabassum (winner of the 2021 Soane Medal for architecture) will lead a workshop followed by a lecture on April 4. On April 11, the school presents "World (Re) Making The Future Life of Sacred Spaces: Remaking Community Legacies." This virtual panel discussion invites a guest to "comes together to discuss the challenges and benefits of adaptively reusing religious buildings." Architect, filmmaker, and educator, Sara Akigbogun, will lead a workshop on April 30. Concluding Carnegie Mellon's Spring 2022 lecture series is a panel discussion and conversation will Zoe Zenghelis on April 30th. Zenghelis will be joined by Sarah Akigbogun, Theodossis (Theo) Issaias, and Hamed Khosravi.
