In preparation for their Spring 2021 public events, the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis presents a strong line-up of speakers addressing topics in architecture, history, preservation, art, and social injustice from January through April.

Events begin on January 30 with a panel discussion about the work of Charles E. Fleming, a 1961 alumnus and one of the first African American students to earn an architecture degree from Washington University. Co-sponsored by the School’s College of Architecture and Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, as part of the Museum’s “In Conversation” series, the discussion will include Fleming as well as fellow architecture alumnus Michael Willis and faculty architectural historians Shantel Blakely and Eric Mumford.
Artists Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin will present on February 4th. Following their presentation the lecture series will continue on February 10 with a panel discussion on “Architectural History and Conservation,” and February 16 with Ghanaian-American interdisciplinary artist Addoley Dzegede. Architect Edward R. Ford will speak on February 22, urban designer, Harvard GSD professor, and principal at NBBJ Alex Krieger will deliver his lecture titled "Designing the American City: Aspirations and Urban Form" on February 24.
On February 25, the Sam Fox School, the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, and the University’s recently founded Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Equity (CRE2) will host a panel discussion with artist-in-residence Jordan Weber. Faculty member Zeuler Lima will speak on March 1 and artist/architect Amanda Williams and Assemble will speak on March 4. March 10 features the school's discussion in architectural history and theory panel discussion titled "Architectural History as a Global Discipline."
Architect and urban designer Toni L. Griffin will present on April 8, landscape architect Charles Birnbaum speaks on April 19, Igor Marjanović & Katerina Rüedi Ray will speak on April 26, and Bangkok-based landscape architect Kotchakorn Voraakhom will present on April 27. Concluding their lecture series will be Women's Work on April 28 and a lecture by Freund Teaching Fellow Dana Levy, date TBD.
All events are free and open to the public and will be hosted online. RSVPs are required for individual lectures; links will be provided via the Sam Fox School website closer to the event dates.
