Agence Ter and Team wins Pershing Square Renew to redesign DTLA's oldest public park
French landscape firm Agence Ter and Team had the winning concept for the Pershing Square Renew competition, as part of an initiative to redesign L.A.'s historic Pershing Square. The winning scheme would transform the park into an open public-plaza lawn.
A closer look at Daniel Buren's colorful intervention at the Fondation Louis Vuitton
Thanks to in situ artist Daniel Buren, the white glassy curved sails of the Gehry-designed Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris have received a generous splash of vibrant color — or 13 colors, to be exact. Developed in collaboration with Frank Gehry, Buren's temporary piece, “The Observatory of Light“, made its official debut last Wednesday.
Graham Foundation announces 59 grantee projects for 2016
There is plenty to reinvent within the realm of architecture, as the winners of the 2016 Graham Foundation individual grants prove yet again. The Chicago-based Foundation awarded more than $490,000 in grants to inventive architectural projects, whether they're by architects, designers, writers, filmmakers, and the like.
19 shortlisted projects to compete for 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture
With its 13th cycle well underway, 19 projects have been shortlisted and will go head to head for a shot at winning the prestigious $1 million Aga Khan Award. Given every three years, the prize recognizes projects that are deemed as examples of excellent design execution and creating positive impact for their surrounding communities.
RIBA reveals 30 buildings for inaugural International Prize
The International Prize is RIBA's first award that is open to an architect based anywhere in the world, and is also RIBA's own version of recognizing the world's best new building of the year. Most recently, 30 buildings have been shortlisted.
Architects test their theater skills in the 24H Competition 11th edition
Inspired by the concept of the traveling theater company, the timeless magic of William Shakespeare's plays, and the ever-relevant topic of mobility in architecture, participants in the 11th edition 24H Competition had to devise a modern reinterpretation of a portable theater.
