The project’s makeup is evidently still undergoing changes, as the developers have waffled between either hotel or office options in the base of the buildings...
Given the sky-high prices developers can obtain for office space in Meatpacking and surrounding blocks, office may indeed make more sense than hotel...
In any case, the buildings will become the most prominent in the neighborhood by a significant margin. The two towers will stand 28 and 38 floors apiece...

is he still crying today?
WHAT THE FUCK
It looks like someone learned how to use loft in Rhino for the first time. They'll just let this guy do anything I guess.
I don't know... Are we ready to start calling BIG a really bad architecture firm yet? Not sure.
I absolutely love how Bjarke Ingles causes such a freakout on Archinect. Its like the effect that Nancy Pelosi has on right-wingers.
Some of the dull non-starchitect buildings that have been quietly rising in this area:
Davvid, what do these buildings have to do with BIG's work? Is being "not-dull" the highest virtue a building can aspire to? Or is the pursuit of being "not-dull" already played out and "dull" in itself? Think we are looking for better criteria in 2016.
Perhaps you can take this "freak out" as a sign that architects don't like this work? Which is interesting, no? Why is that? Envy? But why the lack of freak out for, say, Alejandro Aravena, Shigeru Ban, David Adjaye? Could it be that the work doesn't apeal to architects as much as, say, journalists?
"You want to shock people to disguise the fact that you are irrelevant" - Alejandro Aravena
LiMX, these buildings are part of the context. Why is that so hard for you to understand?
"The Context" seems plain, perhaps could have used some better detailing. But I am suspicious of any argument that seeks justification by diversion. Because another building is "bad" (so you say) doesn't make your rendering "good." Live by your own work. But that's probably not the BIG strategy is it.
Looks undignified, like a old man doing tricks on a skateboard
Like this one?
H&deM's 215 Chrystie Street also uses these parallelogram windows.
That's an old, confused man on a skateboard
And by the way, these towers look very "dull" indeed. Like how they stuck with the original design----not!
There goes the neighborhood. Again.
davvid, i appreciate your efforts to bolster the reputation of all starchitects, especially BIG, but dont you understand that the criticism here is based on the irrational, tired "twisting" of the buildings, and not the windows per se?
So, I ask you the question, whether you are plain dumb or f***ing stupid
^ the freakout continues
Yes, its a freakout on your stupidity
Ingels is a genius at getting paid for tired, unoriginal bullshit. The guy's a huckster.
Can we not give him a f#### american visa?
Bjarke? this was great back in 2008
jokes on us.
Comic book architecture for a comic book audience.
Marc Miller, *I* understand that skateboard picture, and I totally applaud both it and the fact that you posted it here. Free Love Park!
^ not the only one who get's it.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! My whole damn life has been worth it just for this moment."
