Singapore Sports Hub wins Supreme Excellence title in 2015 Structural Awards
The Institution of Structural Engineers celebrated another successful edition of the Structural Awards! Out of the 13 category winners announced, Arup's Singapore Sports Hub won the 2015 Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence, the highest accolade.
Four houses currently shortlisted for RIBA House of the Year 2015
RIBA revealed the first four houses shortlisted for the 2015 House of the Year award. Formerly called the Manser Medal, House of the Year still carries the same purpose of distinguishing the year's most innovative house designed by a UK-based architect. Fore! TURF winners use mini-golf to explore present-day city life in L.A.
What could make investigating urban life in Los Angeles as fun as mini-golf can? Materials & Applications did just that in their TURF: A Mini-Golf Project competition. Entrants conjured up ideas for a single architectural mini-golf course that explores a current L.A. condition. The winning ideas will then be realized into a temporary mini-golf course next year.
SANAA, BIG, Lacaton & Vassal teams to compete for new Aarhus School of Architecture
Out of the 42 teams that responded in the first phase of the competition, the Aarhus School of Architecture chose the teams led by SANAA, BIG, and Lacaton & Vassal as the first pre-qualified candidates. Three more teams will be added when the next phase starts next month.
MVRDV-led team chosen to design new urban lagoon in Taiwan
Downtown Tainan might get a brand new "urban lagoon". The tourist-friendly project will revamp the "T-axis" part of downtown and replace the old China-Town Mall from 1983, which MVRDV amusingly described was turning into a "rotten tooth" for the area.
Winners of the 2015 AIA Seattle Awards
The AIA Seattle chapter celebrated another successful year of the AIA Seattle Awards, which recognizes the year's most outstanding projects around Washington state and abroad.
Three architecture schools win over $99K in 2015 NCARB Award
Mississippi State University, Philadelphia University, and the University of Florida collectively won over $99,000 for their proposed architectural education programs from the 2015 NCARB Awards. The annual program encourages schools to develop curricula that bridges the gap between practice and education.

Atelier Thomas Pucher of Graz, Austria recently won a Europe-wide competition to redesign the historic University of Graz Library, which was first built in 1895. The University selected the proposal for the way it juxtaposed new and old elements.
24H Competition 8th edition winners rethink the metropolitan “non place”
The 24H Competition 8th edition had participants revive a metropolitan "non place" — or unused spaces within urban cities — into enticing public spots. At the end of the competition, the jury selected three prize winners and seven honorable mentions.

New photos of SOFTlab’s kaleidoscopic “Nova” at NYC’s Flatiron District
"Nova" came together smoothly just in time for its public debut at New York City's Flatiron District last Wednesday. Designed by SOFTlab, the crystalline pavilion was the winning proposal of the second Flatiron Public Plaza Holiday Design competition, and it'll be the centerpiece of the District's "23 Days of Flatiron Cheer" for the holiday season.
