RIBA Manser Medal renamed to House of the Year, winner to be broadcast on British TV
RIBA recently renamed its prestigious Manser Medal competition to the RIBA House of the Year award. Since the 2015 longlisted homes were revealed back in June, there's been a change in plans for the rest of this year's competition. Starting November 4, RIBA will work with Britain's Channel 4 for a weekly TV series called "Grand Designs: RIBA House of the Year". (Pictured: Cefn Castell, Gwynedd, Wales by Stephenson Studio LTD)
The National Building Museum’s BEACH to be recycled for arts competition in D.C.
Now that the wildly successful BEACH at the National Building Museum has closed, the construction materials of the 10,000 square-foot ball pit will be re-used for an arts competition for D.C.-based initiative, the Dupont Underground.

The workshop will investigate the urban fabric of the historic city of Thessaloniki through a series of multi-parameter morphological operations and the use of digital fabrication tools. Flashback: The “Treedom” lights up Budapest’s Sziget Festival
At Budapest's 2015 Sziget Festival last month stood "Treedom", an alluring forest of wooden trees designed by a team led by Parisian practice Atelier YokYok, who won the competition to design the centerpiece installation.

The competition is set up like a comic webseries with four episodes. Set in an imaginary world where anything is possible, each episode will explore a different theme that relates to the city of the future.
Shortlist for the 2015 RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize
RIBA's 2015 Stephen Lawrence Prize competition is already underway. Seven projects made the cut for this year's shortlist for a chance to win the prize, which recognizes the best UK-based projects built with a construction budget of less than £1 million. The Architectural League’s Beaux Arts Ball is back for 2015 with THRESHOLD
