The main task was to create an interior design for an apartment for a bachelor businessman from Switzerland. A space that will be a comfortable 5-star hotel and a cozy home at the same time – a place where you will feel good in the company of friends and alone.
Minimalism to the bone and metallic character.
It seems like you are in a cave, but the sun in the panoramic windows brings you back to reality. The stone walls by Kelsis breathe coolness. Metal columns look as if they are the ones supporting all 25 floors. A large home theatre with a Cinema City-like sound. The billiard table easily turns into a dining table. The concrete floor can be washed with champagne – it can withstand any cocktails. In this case, even a very big party never killed anyone. Almost a thousand square kilometres of Kyiv’s expanses look through the panoramic windows. And for dessert, a ceramic lady with metal skin by MAKHNO Products will be the only mute witness to parties, successful contracts, and the first grey hair on the temple.
The door leading to nowhere actually leads to the owner’s office. There are 50 shades of black here: walls, windows, curtains, and a table that appears out of nowhere – everything was chosen exclusively for the client. In addition, there is a personal collection of books, a wine cabinet, a hidden monitor behind a painting, and the author’s ceramic sculpture Calm. It is better to make decisions with a cool head.
The apartment has three bedrooms – one master and two guest rooms. The first one is minimalist and cosy. The metal-clad wall contrasts with the soft upholstery of the bed. The author’s ceramic lamps LAKUNA by MAKHNO Studio are on guard for light and comfort. In the bathroom, someone spilt milk at night, so the walls and floor became sweet. LAKUNA ceramic lamps spill syrup from the light into the intimate darkness of the room, filling it with softness.
A bed to drown in dreams. The reed panel at the headboard is instead of a good dream catcher. It is made of eco-friendly materials and assembled by hand. For colour uniformity and practicality, the straws are treated with stain. It took 72 hours and hundreds of reed trunks to create this panel.
All the walls in this room are different, some are painted with “suede” tactile paint, and others are covered with the author’s technology by MAKHNO Studio. Even the flower lamp has a metallic character — its iron petals remind us who is the boss. This is a new lamp by MAKHNO Products — Rosychka — named after a rare predator flower that eats small insects. As if it were an annoying mosquito, it will easily deal with insomnia, obsessive thoughts and hangovers.
The host says: “The party is over” and hides in his cave, where the ceiling flows into the walls and bed. It’s simple and sophisticated at the same time, with everything in its place. When the whole world was shouting about “perfection”, we chose a different pathfinding beauty in the imperfect. Leave your guests, hundreds of missed calls and messages behind – here you are on your own. Here you don’t have to pretend to be anyone, you can just relax – for example, bask in your own bird’s eye view jacuzzi.
