2020 - Life Interrupted

'Life Interrupted'
A Photography Exhibition
Curated by Orestes Gonzalez
This exhibition will focus on the way life is drastically altered by unexpected changes in political, economic and familial circumstances.
Curator's Statement: “The world today is constantly in turmoil. Wars, political & religious conflicts, climate change, economic challenges, police brutality, urban violence, sexual prejudices and a desire for a better life caused great disruptions in people's lives. People move en-masse, in family units, or simply by themselves. Some also move willingly for other reasons as well. To pursue a life free of repression, economic hardships and other, more personal reasons, many choose to move from their birthplace to start a new life.

This exhibit will illustrate a glimpse into the reality of those whose lives have changed, sometimes because of forces beyond their control, and how life continues unabated, despite these changes. We want to see people before, during, and after these life interruptions.”

On View: January 16 -  February 16, 2020
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 18, 7-10pm at The Plaxall Gallery, 5-25 46th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101 (View Map)

Date of panel discussion on integration into new societies to be announced.
