cincy let many know already, as far as i know their acceptance deadline was last friday but i believe it got pushed till this friday (still ridiculously early) when people complained.
I've noticed no one has mentioned Virginia Tech or the University of Florida. I applied to both of them and have not received an answer yet. I thought Florida would be more popular at least. . . Also, I was in Tampa this weekend and stopped by the University of South Florida to see their arch. school (one of my safety's) and it was a freaking ghost town and their facilities, or lack there of, sucked ass.
is it really pointless to expect good news from UCLA now? I dont think so.
I spoke to them last week and they said everyone will get a yes or no by friday, i still haven't heard anything though, maybe today.
University of Florida mailed out their letters this past Friday. You should get the letter sometime this week. I'm at UF undergrad now if you have any questions.
Thanks nll18, some questions will definitely arise soon. I'm in Jacksonville and didn't receive anything in the mail this afternoon from Florida. That is a little odd. Do you have an idea of how many people applied to the program this year? It's not too popular on this site.
Also, I did get a letter back from Sci-arc and I was waitlisted. I'll be sending back the reply form cancelling my spot on the waitlist when I get back to my parents this weekend. It's a waste of money anyway and I regret sending an application there.
I received notification lasty week and today from schools and can not make a choice.
Harvard: yes (no money)
MIT: yes, ap, and 50% scholarship
Coumbia: nothing yet, but the guy I talked with said my "envelope" went out fri. (I asked him if I could expect a small card this week and he said to expect an envelope, so I doubt I got in)
Ga. Tech: Yes, first year paid and 5k stipen
Yale: Nope
I live in TN to help anyone waiting for envelopes in the midwest, I think I will go MIT and take some classes at Harvard and save 60K and I went to Berkeley undergrad so the new Dean should make things enjoyable! Let me know what you think.
I heard today, oversized envelope. I took career disco there and it is very corporate and larger than most think. I do not know that I would go just to take studio with HdM or Rem...Scott Cohen would be cool, but my friends there said it is not worth the extra debt. Everyone needs to make their own decision though. I, sadly, remain optimistic for Columbia.
if you had been accepted to Yale, would that be a contender. I ask because I was accepted to Yale with a small scholarship and to MIT with the 50% scholarship + stipend.
I am leaning MIT and excited about the program........but you seem to want another option?
don't fret about Columbia. There acceptances are in a small envelope so don't freak if you get one. I am sure that you must have a pretty good chance if you got into MIT and GSD.
Good for you and those are really two great options regardless.
PMIC -- your answer to the following question will stir hope in all of us who have yet to open their mailboxes today, and will torment the souls of future archineurotinecters checking this thread: had you already gotten a phone call from the GSD, or did you just get the big envelope today?
I may consider trading you my Columbia for your GSD -- I fear Columbia now that it has entered battle with Slayer, Ditka, Megadeath, Chuck Norris, and Bic Pens. Seriously, I fear the main discussion board--I tremble if I venture far from the warm womb of the accepted to grad schools yet? thread.
Congrats! That's awesome. Did you do your undergrad at Texas? I'll be there in the fall for MArch I...any suggestions? I'm also attending the summer academy...can't wait!
Thanks, for the pick me up, I visited Yale because I know a friend who is an uppity up for undergrad admissions, and he was going to find out from Bob Stren what happened. In response to your question cotd, after visiting the building and talking with students alot joked that they went to Yale because no one lese accepted them. In addition, they seemed very laconic and lethargic about being there. Many students leave for the weekend to go to New York and the work looked a little banal. I do not feel like Yale is a place for me, besides it tied with MIT according to the Design Intelligence 2006 rankings.
I am a little disheartened about the GSD, but Columbia has turned out some of my favorite architects, Baumschlager and Eberle, Nieto Sobejano jsut to name a few. I am just worried about the design education I would receive at MIT. Can anyone speak on this thought?
Ultimately, I do not think I can afford Harvard. They must not have liked my stuff that much.
st1 - thanks, and congrats to you as well!
I did my undergrad at Oklahoma State, but I've been living in Austin for almost two years now. I don't have any suggestions per UT, but I think it will be exciting to be a part of that environment. Large school, but my individual program is small (5 people per year); should be interesting...
To all you GaTech accepties and others. I also got into Ga Tech for the May semester (MArch 1) and OSU as well, among others. I have visited OSU a couple of times and was really impressed with the building however I think I am leaning towards Ga Tech. Sounds like they have a better program and faculty. Ga Tech needed a decision before I received all notification from prespecitive schools. Anyone else run into this dilemma?
Switcheroo....You make a decision on a school yet, how are the Ivies coming, I myself didnt apply to any so I think Gatech is my place. Good Luck.
Anyone ever run into a waitlist issue where you have to accept admission somewhere else before hearing back about the waitlist? Can you back out on a admission acceptance or will they come to you house and hunt you down...AHHH?
dmc -- When is the RISD open house? I just looked through the folder again last night and swore I didn't see mention of one...maybe b/c instead of looking for that, I was searching like mad for the missing letter w/ scholarship information. They must have forgotten to insert that in there.
By the way, if anyone is interested in some input about RISD from people at RISD, I opened a thread on there daily jolt site. It's kinda strange, it's like a tentacle of this beast crawled to another site. Here is a link, I would love to hear some of your comments on what they say here (in particular, the matter of production/craft at RISD vs. Theory/Academia at CU): Strugs Leaves the Marsupial Pouch for a lil' RISD Advice
nll 18 - what letters did they mail out last Friday? I'm applying there for the Undergrad program but I still have to go there for a Pin-up on the 21 of April.
switcheroo, let us know what you find out. I was also accepted to OSU and have recieved no financial info. I was just taking it as them not offering me any assistance but would love to hear otherwise - thanks,
When I recieved my acceptance to OSU I recieved notice that I would be recieving some financial assistance. Yet at GaTech I recieved nothing and when I called they said if you didnt receive info about financial assistance then they where not offering any scholarships, etc. I am banking on the coop program at GaTech.
Switheroo-
Good Luck and I hope to see you at GaTech in a month or so.
I hated it with passion, I would have preferred to submit a portfolio. Anyway, for you coming form a CC it is very important to make sure you look at other pin-ups, look at the last few year's top ten.
accepted to grad schools yet?
any more word on SCIArc??
not grad school, but I did get accepted to the Ghost Lab.
nothing from Sci-Arch here
congrats Jason. tell us how that goes. I want to do it next year.
thanks, will do.

Any one heard back from U of Cincinnatti?
And also I got no idea about UCincinnatti m.arch program.
any advise?
are people really still waiting on UCLA, i find that odd and douche of UCLA to trickle like that.

Also, STILL WAITING ON UCLA... honestly it can't be good can it?
i haven't decided yet. im torn between UCLA and bekeley with wustl as the longshot

form = from
UT-Austin - Accepted into M.Arch2 (Post-Professional degree) / Urban Design (30 applicants, 5 admitted)
I had to call in order to find out. The grad coordinator said the letters (both accepted and denied) went out this morning.
I am so HAPPY, if only because I didn't have a workable backup plan!
:)

thats for UF undergrad only, for UF grad i think you should have heard by now... I know some people have
Thanks +q. I thought I might of missed something in the application process.
