Yes I did. I was anxious to get the package because I wanted to know the fin. aid. info.
But I know from past experience applying to the GSD that they do not call everyone. Two years ago, I was convinced that I was rejected because I hadn't received anything (and I was obsessively reading Archinect) and then I was shocked when I received the package. Hang in there, you never know.
ok-waitlisted at UT-Austin-...so those of you unsure if you are going attend there-please hurry up and accept elsewhere so I can get in! It is the only school I applied to!
I'm still heavily favoring Columbia because of the great vibe that I got from their open house, but I would still love to have to choose between there and the GSD. Has anyone begun negotiating financial aid yet? If anyone had told me a few years ago that I would even be THINKING about using an acceptance from Harvard as leverage to shake Columbia down, I would have burned them as a witch.
Of course, I need to make sure the envelope is from the GSD first...keep an eye out for a retraction!
Have any MArch II's heard anything from the GSD (phone calls etc.)? From chas and orEqual, is this the general consensus...that the envelopes are arriving???
Hey meMarch -- you mean, you didn't read the other 1489 posts first? Just keeeeding...I can catch you up:
UCLA -- some people rec'd email notifications a few weeks ago, and then a hard copy mailing recently went out.
GSD -- some very lucky, talented people got personal phone calls and I think a retreat to a day spa for massages and a dinner with Toshiko. Then they got packages. The rest of us are still waiting, with tense shoulders and ulcers.
Also:
Someone named their ucler "Rice."
Some people find it helps to crash your car in order to get bad luck out of the way.
Some people find its easier to get into schools by not applying -- I think that was dmc for RISD.
The decision between Yale and Other schools may come down to how well your mother took care of her Dodge Stratus.
Thanx strugs!
I tried the car crash trick yesterday-doesn't seem to work-lucky no one or no car was hurt-
I would love Toshiko to call Turkey, she'll be informed about the awesome vacation opportunities on the south coast as a bonus..
So u say there are some who actually received hard copies without the e-mail notifications??
-and I know that +q goes anywhere, also that MArch06 has started another thread-having a hard time on deciding which one to go to..
(notice the resemblance-meMarch--could this be the birth of another trick for better luck?? :P )
strugs that was a wonderful recap of the past two weeks.
you might also add that MArch06 has begun to mulitply, resulting in MArchII06 and meMarch.
and just to let everyone know, there was nothing in my mailbox today. i went home and checked at lunch. (still waiting on gsd and mit. and an official no thank you from UTA)
Okay so I am making a list of schools that nobody has heard anything from yet... please add your schools to the list and hopefully we can get some answers:
Is the reference to UTA University of Texas (Austin). That is normally referred to as UT. UTA is University of Texas at Arlington, also a good school in Dalls area. Just wondering, I keep seeing people interchange UTA and University of Texas.
UT-A is being referred to as UT Austin...yes it is normally referred to as UT, but as there is also UT-Tennessee, and UT-Toronto, we refer to it as UT-A for clarification.
I talked with my "source" at Clemson ( read : an administrative assistant ) who said that the committee made decisions last week. Because they are unmitigated sadists, however, they decided to hold off on mailing said acceptances until after their spring break, which ends sunday. they will mail out decisions sometime next week, or sometime thereafter. or maybe, just maybe, never ...
Joe - thanks for putting that list together - i'm still waiting on SCI-Arc, Rice and NC State.
and Penn - i was thinking i'd have a letter yesterday but our post office is notoriously slow (my money is on a "no thank you but we enjoyed taking your application fee") it better be there today!!! i think this thread has made me more neuortic.
MArch 06,
50/50 can also be described as "still hoping," "hope is the last one to die," "wishful thinking," "maybe, baby," or "why the hell am i still hoping if i'm so sure i'm not in???". but hey, a little delusion doesn't hurt. except for that ulcer.. i mean rice
well by 50/50 I mean the letters/ acceptance have been mailed/ emailed, and some people know and some people do not and or not ponying up yet... make sense? yah i did not think so either but its better than nothing
m.arch 2 year, packet, don't have to respond until may 30. i've heard from last year that sci-arc has a huge waitlist as well for their master's program.

I don't recall seeing one rejection from MIT or GSAPP - this is the quiet before the storm.

Maybe if some have heard acceptances, but nobody's been rejected yet (like GSD I think, unless I missed something) we could call it 51/49?
/not really serious
