You know that guy that's always waiting for his luggage to show up in the little door and come around on the conveyor belt? And as he still stands there while the other passengers happily trot away to their destinations, he thinks, why can't my bags be the first on the conveyor belt for just once in my entire life.
Anyone have any experience or recommendations about negotiating with school about their financial offers. I have an offer for the 1st year but it will be re-evaluated after that. However, I have a full to year offer from another school. Could I use this as leverage?

Exactly one year ago i was that conveyor belt leftover, waiting and waiting to no avail. It turned out my bag had not made it from mexico to california, it was in arizona. Perhaps that is where my acceptance packages are! If anyone sees them, please let me know.
Just another friendly reminder to all who have accepted an offer from one school, and NOT told other schools you will not be attending. Please do so as soon as you can Please. Thank you Thank you Thank you
has everyone in new york heard from harvard already [one way or the other] ?
i haven't heard a single word.
in other news, i was--mercifully--in the first wave of e-mails from ucla and berkeley. sure was nice to get them before reading about others in this forum!
I am in the M's. I was told that I was in the top applicant group and called first. I dont know that they will call everyone or if they do, when.
I believe the process has just started.......don't give up.
Wow! Congrats to everyone who got accepted in the dead of night. Everyone else- hang in there and expect the best....there's still plenty of time.....I'm sending good vibes your way....................................
Penn acceptance envelopes have reached post offices in boston. (i've got a PO box, i imagine it may take another day if it has to be delivered somewhere)
I think some schools do weed out the applicants. Like the e-ject from Princeton came from the Dean of the Graduate School, not from anyone in the School of Architecture. I can't help but think that my application didn't make it through the first phase there, it was e-jected before it ever had a chance.
UCLA is driving me crazy! Luckily I have one acceptance and am not worrying too much about them, but honestly was Jim Kies just lying to me over the phone or what.... that shit pisses me off
Possible treads after this:
So, you got into grad school, now how are you going to pay?
So, you didn't get into grad school, now what?
(but let us hope that the latter isn't required.)
I think i'm going with a new strategy of coming up with a "Plan B" that is so incredibly awesome that if i DO get in it will be almost disappointing, that I don't get to go through with "Plan B".
I'm international ( Bangladesh ) .....
so far my standings are
yale > yes
umich > yes
berkeley > yes
still waiting for gsd, upenn and rice
this waiting game is killing me, can anyone tell how long it will take packages to arrive at my mailbox, here in Bangladesh ????
Kaal, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but with 3/3 acceptances to phenomenal schools so far, perhaps its time to calm down? There are plenty of us staring at a pile of rejections.
kaal, im guessing you're going to have to wait a while for the gsd. the acceptance packages STILL haven't even made it to the east village!!!! but hey, i mean, you've got yale... or umich... or berkeley....
I swear, If kaal's admission package makes it to Bangladesh before I receive anything in Manhattan, I am going to scream so loud that he will hear it in Bangladesh.
hey all. went home at lunch to check mail and got an acceptance from upenn.
congrats for today's acceptances and a big "hang in there" for people still waiting. strong resolve and stiff drinks!
Thank you meta for taking us to page 14...I was really worried about our colective fates if we kept the thread in the unlucky 13 area too long...
...although, people were having pretty good luck back there...hmmmm....may bad luck is the new good luck? oh man! and I almost forgot about amanning's car crash....it is...bad luck IS the new good luck? we need to go back to 13! Wait, what is the next unlucky number?
I am stepping on every crack and walking under every ladder on my way home tonight.
I'm still waiting on Cal and Columbia. At this point I'm convinced no news is bad news. The whole optimism thing hasn't worked for me so far, I'm thinking pessimism is the way to go.
march06 i think i'm leaning towards UW. i'm really attracted to their environmental and social responsibility bent. and the work that comes out of upenn looks like diagrams to me, not architecture. i'm not convinced that's what i want to come out of grad school with...the whole digital thing is just not my style. i'm more of a hands on kinda person.
i sent away for penn's application 3 years ago, or maybe 4....im not sure if its the same now, but i was personally put off by their request to put your portfolio in a particular binder, i mean they gave the model number and everything....i digress.
accepted to grad schools yet?
Wow! Congratulations cotd.
man what a brutal week. still waiting on gsd, berk, ucla, mit. fingers are crossed at this point.
thanks auguste........

brilliant

*sheesh* guiggster, you have a UT acceptance letter in your hand. show some respect for us in the eternal darkness of the baggage claim.

although i did just receive an acceptance from Penn (MArchII)
im in nyc have heard nothing from gsd, columbia, berkeley, sci-arc or penn........
debating returning home for lunch to check mail.
Good Morning!
Wow! Congrats to everyone who got accepted in the dead of night. Everyone else- hang in there and expect the best....there's still plenty of time.....I'm sending good vibes your way....................................

so, i'm not alone in my snub by toshiko. i, too, wonder if they even received my application.
i would check my mail at lunch too, but why set myself up?
also, why am i not surprised that sci-arc hasn't notified yet?
mnesikles,
did you get your acceptance by snail mail or email? nothing heard from upenn and mit. (march I)
congrats to all.

Oh good lord - that better not have been a joke about MIT. Can one have a heart attack at 26? I think I may have just experienced one . . .
samsonio: please explain. did you get the call?
No - no call. My reaction was in response to reading cotd's post.
If I get a call, I will sure to post though.
Penn acceptance came in a large packet by post.
UCLA is driving me crazy! Luckily I have one acceptance and am not worrying too much about them, but honestly was Jim Kies just lying to me over the phone or what.... that shit pisses me off
congrats mnesikles!
kies stinks. no two ways about that
what are we going to do with ourselves when this is all over in a few weeks?
I suppose I'll just have to start a "burnt out from grad school yet?" thread in late sept to reunite the '06 troops....
on another topic: anyone out there heard from U of T(oronto) al&d yet???

keep truckin' andrea!!
kaal, im guessing you're going to have to wait a while for the gsd. the acceptance packages STILL haven't even made it to the east village!!!! but hey, i mean, you've got yale... or umich... or berkeley....

any more state school acceptances? anybody? somebody? whobody? yeahbody?
i`m going mad!!
kaal- congrats! start a new thread if u wanna ask something other than "accepted to grad schools yet?"
i say no.
march06 i've heard from 5 of 8 schools, accepted at 3 of those 5:
UW, accepted
Parsons, accepted + $$
Penn, accepted + $$
Yale, rejected
UTA, rejected
GSD, no word
Berkeley, no word
MIT, no word
