I'm right with you ringlet, I got the same email about finaid ("not admitted yet") and have heard nothing via either email or website. I have spoken with one of the grad coordinators at UTSOA yesterday and he said that their applicant pool is 2x as large and that's what is causing the delays. Other than that, I really don't know...
re: UT Austin - i'm in TX and i received notification via snail mail and it took a couple of days from that point for the website to reflect that i'd been accepted. and it's not even in big font or anything so i didn't notice it at first...so don't despair - from what biggins said, they're still going thru all the applicants and it's a large group.
ringlet - you're checking that application status page? i think that's all one can do other than wait for mail - i've heard of people finding out either way first - online or in the mail.
dusty - i'm sending an east village shout-out to you - i used to live there and miss it terribly! i moved to TX with a plan to become a resident (risky strategy) and apply to UT and it's worked!
Hmmmm . . . vigggo is across the country, dusty is in the village and I'm in brooklyn. maybe columbia is f'ing with our f'ing f and sending letters out according to a geographic recursive function generator?
i can speak for UCLA....they aren't yet. i haven't even received the package in the mail yet, just an informal email. the Open House is the 2nd/3rd of april
for ucla-
i received a large manila envelope in the mail today, with a two page formal letter and an invitation to their open house (i also recieved the email on friday). i live in southern california, and the envelope was postmarked march 20. they are asking for a decision by april 15. hope this helps.
Those Columbia dates do not sound good. Has anyone received a rejection letter from Columbia? I'm beginning to think that the further along we go, the worse it gets. What the f'ing f!
any chance i could get you to give me a brief rundown of the activities planned for sunday the 2nd? im going to be out of town so i'll only be able to make monday.
thanks.
Well, don't get too worried, did you see that link I gave earlier? 200 letters offering admission last year and the year before. I'm feeling optimistic.
NB: I am delusional.
the invitation that they sent is just a printout of the one that they emailed. for more info on the open house, though, go to their website, click on "admissions" and then click on "open house". they ask to rsvp by march 24, via email. hope this helps. maybe i'll see you there!
hmmm. must be jim kies being inefficient again. i tried what you're saying a few days ago and once again just now and it links you to the fall open house this past november.
go jim go!!
Viggo congrats on Columbia... are you planning on attending the open house?
Also, MNSEKIESE (?) I also applied to the AA. I talked to them yesterday and they told me that they would evaluate my application and try to let me know by April 3rd... then they are on break or something and it will be around the 17th. I heard the AA doesn't have studios on campus... this would be the only reason I can think of not to go (if accepted of course) Whats the skinny?
Thanks, and the same to you. Yes, I think I will be attending the open house. Need to book some air travel quickly, but I am still waiting on the GSD. Hopefully I can hit both of those around the same time..
Anyone know when the GSD is having the open house? Im sure its in this thread, but Im being lazy.
no mail again. dude, i don't even care by this point, i just want to know where i'll be next year. and i live at E90th -- that would be about 26 blocks down + a crosstown bus... wtf...
I don't know if DMC applied to Columbia (did you?) but I really think the GSAPP is getting letters out according to the applicant's address. They can send out our letters of acceptance (because we're all getting in foooool!!!) later than the letters for people who live in other states.
Auguste you are so right about columbia. And clearly the berkeley emails are taking some time to get across the country. That makes sense. Right? Andrea where are you
viggo - GSD open house is April 7th, and there's a NYC reception on April 10th as well
If the Berkeley bureaucracy for grad students is anything like it was for undergrads . . . don't expect anything to be clear or on time or at all helpful.
i'm not sure about the columbia waves yielding decreasing amounts of money. so far, i think i've received the least of anyone who's posted any scholarship amount here, and i found out like a week ago (march i). i'm starting to feel like i was a pity acceptance or something (if that exists).
not feeling particularly postive about gsd either, since i still haven't heard, and if those acceptance envelopes were mailed priority friday they certainly should have gotten to the midwest by now. of course i can't even get anything else done either.
accepted to grad schools yet?

Contratulations viggo, what program? If this is considered the 'second wave', does that imply less financial aid?
Auguste Perret,
Its the M-ArchI, 3 year program.

brujitadulce- i know it's a great place to live. i'll miss it. that is, if i ever get accepted to a grad school and have to move!
auguste- i'll go with that theory. do you have one for the gsd?
Well, perhaps you are right and this is the second wave. I know +q is in the same area as myself, and received acceptance a week or so ago.
Columbia: April 17th. Open house: April 5th.
i can speak for UCLA....they aren't yet. i haven't even received the package in the mail yet, just an informal email. the Open House is the 2nd/3rd of april
dusty, no theory for GSD, I didn't apply. But I hope you get in and that opens a spot for me at GAPP.

auguste i am worried about the same thing. i need to get out of this office and home to my mailbox
good to hear wilday.
any chance i could get you to give me a brief rundown of the activities planned for sunday the 2nd? im going to be out of town so i'll only be able to make monday.
thanks.
hmm..i am in texas too but no word-the mail came and went today and nothing...i'm freaking out here...
Well, don't get too worried, did you see that link I gave earlier? 200 letters offering admission last year and the year before. I'm feeling optimistic.
NB: I am delusional.
wilday: did ucla include financial info as well???
the invitation that they sent is just a printout of the one that they emailed. for more info on the open house, though, go to their website, click on "admissions" and then click on "open house". they ask to rsvp by march 24, via email. hope this helps. maybe i'll see you there!
vman-
not yet, i'm in-state though...not sure if that makes a difference.
hmmm. must be jim kies being inefficient again. i tried what you're saying a few days ago and once again just now and it links you to the fall open house this past november.
go jim go!!
i just noticed that too...i'm emailing to let them know.
thanks wilday...otherwise it would be hard to RSVP for a made up event.
will you write wilday on your name tag? ;)
MArch06,
thats a pretty good idea. all open house attendees should put their alias on their nametag. instant aquaintances.
vigggo.
you're right...beyond UCLA it would be pretty funny. after this thread i feel like we all pledged a fraternity together.
wilday.
i just emailed them as well.
Viggo congrats on Columbia... are you planning on attending the open house?

WTF! I have no word from berkeley yet
amanning,

thanks vigggo. after 0-8, 3-3 feels good.
now what? UCLA or berkeley? geeesh

No word from Berkeley for me yet. Thanks for your support though MArch06!
well hopefully they are going out in waves. keep the faith my pledge brother....err.....sister?
wilday, any word for you?
Auguste you are so right about columbia. And clearly the berkeley emails are taking some time to get across the country. That makes sense. Right? Andrea where are you
...no word from berkeley.
congrats MArch06!
which program?
I'm in Connecticut. Or rejection anticipation hell, whichever you prefer.
thanks!!
option 2
well that makes me feel a wee bit better.
I applied to option 3...
I'm option 3. Degree will be in Art History (but really arch history they just don't call it that). There must still be hope.
great guys, im pulling for you...sorry if i gave you a heart attack!
I just got an acceptance from Columbia [MSAAD] w/ $12k scholarship.
It looks like wave #2 drops the amount $4k.
Im in Cleveland. Now's the easy part NY or LA???
yep, i was talking about columbia
option 3 coming, i can just feel it...
anyone who got into columbia get a scholarship?
viggo - GSD open house is April 7th, and there's a NYC reception on April 10th as well

m.arch that is... besides +q's fat one. congrats, btw
why are't thou quiet sciarc?
