8's - don't sweat berkeley....you seemed to like UW, right? And slow down on your drinking....sheeesshh ;-)

Congrats Dusty Lucia (have you ever thought about combining the two? Then of course it becomes DL - the possibilities are endless) but enough of my mumble jumble.
I didn't get anything from GSAPP either. I'm beginning to think that this year really was a heavy year for the schools in terms of applications (just observe how many people are on this tread and how many f'ing pages this f'ing f is.)

I wonder why this was such a heavy year for applications? I know that in Ontario, they had the double co-hort (I think they call it) which means they got rid of grade 13 (back in 2002), so those people should be graduating from undergrad about this time, but I doubt this is the only reason why.

Also, do you guys think it is too early to call schools to ask an advisor on how to improve applications for next year?

UBC (British Columbia) =accepted +$$
UW = rejected
Berkeley=e-jected

UPenn= --
GSD = doubt it

dammmmmmmmit. I tried every bad luck inducing trick I could think of on the way I home....I even crossed on a "Don't Walk" with my eyes closed to see if I could instigate a car crash...but alas, nothing worked...my luck was too good today, and so, I got the lil' envelope from Penn. And if you were wondering, there was no $$$ w/ the reject.

Time for more drinking. I am unplugging my internet connection now.

I think this is the best time because they may still have your portfolio and remember you, depending on who you speak to.

Wow! strugs, sorry to hear that, but unplugging your internet may be going too far. Even people who commit suicide leave their internet connection going . . . I think.

S....
I don't think I'm in quite the same league as many of you since I applied to MArch I programs and I don't have any background in architecture whatsoever....I didn't even revisit my creative side until about 2 years ago after many years of denial...that being said, I applied to programs that I felt would be the best fit for me, and had no interest whatsoever in applying to the Ivies....I have been accepted to Ga Tech, Wash U in St Louis & Tulane....

Huh? Is UCB Berkeley? That is interesting, MIT and Berkeley accept you but Yale and (espcially) Penn don't???

AP- i know, i thought it was rather fascinating. makes me really believe, that at the end of the day, when it comes to any kind of admissions, you never know what little lucky star or rusty wrench might be thrown in the mix the day they look at your application. it could go either way.

and to think i almost didn't submit the mit ap.
yes, ucb is berkeley.
i am actually pretty excited and intrigued about ubc (visiting next week), but how does one turn down mit? and then there is berkeley. and uw. i was not expecting this jam.
i decided at some point last fall to stop pouring over the programs- that i shouldn't get my hopes up too much before i knew what my options were... now, i can't believe i have to let them all know by mid april...!

Recieved the big package by mail from Upenn today and I'm in California (MArch I). wahoo! I cant find anything in the package about an Open House, am I just looking over it? congrats to all those mit, cal, and penn victories today!

No official word from GSD but it was an AP application and there are so few of those spots and people already where called about them, that I believe its safe to assume I didn't get one.

i still have`nt heard from penn as yet. i called up the admissions office to know my status over phone. requested them to tell me my decisons over phone, although she was`nt authorised. she did`nt and asked me to wait.
now, does she mean its bad news and i gotta wait? or just a reaction over my intolerance?

Meta...i got the impression that Penn has a policy to not give decisions over the phone or e-mail whatsoever. I wouldn't over analyze it. It sounds like Penn letters will reach the further out destinations today....I hope.

Good Luck!!

rejected from Penn.

Syracuse looks really good to me. Can I get some opinions from people on the MArch I program at Syracuse - please be honest....

thanks

Both the undergrad and grad programs at Syracuse are very good. It doesn't get noticed because it's so far away and cold up there (be prepared for 5 feet of snow!!!) I don't think you'll find the cutting edge technology up there, but the core program is strong. And the Florence program is unmatched.

Mar 23, 06 10:23 am  ·

Sorry, I don't think the Florence program is for M.Arch I though.

Also,

Do you guys think the graduate schools talk amoungst themselves. Or wait and see where someone gets in ... then say to themselves "Well they did or did not get in here sooo...."

I don' think they communicate with one another; they're too busy and in direct competition with each other.
We need to use that to our advantage.

Are we to the point of assuming that no news is bad news from MIT and GSD, or is it still a possiblity? I'm in West Texas.

congrats everyone! It's almost over and time to send the deposit.

Two-headed - Penn's calendar of events says their open house is April 10.

Accepted:
SCI-Arc - deferral from last year
UCLA - short list?
RISD
RPI

No word:
MIT - Please Call!
GSD - just waiting for the reject
Penn - pessimistic
PRATT - why are you taking so long to let me in?

Nothing from anyone on the $$$. Has anyone recieved financial aid from UCLA or RISD? Any ideas where the dirt poor can find a place to stay near UCLA for the open house?

I think the first wave from GSAPP, GSD and MIT is over. They sent out their top picks to correspond with other schools - Princeton and Yale. Notice how they were all acceptance letters? Now they're sending out everything else: acceptance and rejections. Just a hunch.

I just heard positively from MIT today, as in, right now, when the mail came, and I'm only a couple hours outside Boston. I wouldn't give up if I were you.

Personally I have given up on the GSD, but that's just me. I had given up on MIT too before today, so who knows. After all, considering how large the GSD class size is, we've heard from a relatively few number of them. Compared to, say, Penn, which someone said only takes 20 or so students. If that's true, I feel like we've heard from all of them on this board already!

Rejected from Penn too today, BTW.

I also think nobody should take anything the admissions office says seriously when it comes to when notifications will be mailed out, phoned, emailed, etc., unless they told you during an acceptance call. Otherwise, they're going to a) say as little as they can, and/or b) make it seem like they've made as little progress as possible. Not to mention that stuff definitely happens in a wave/rolling fashion, so if they say they're mailing stuff out today, or in two weeks, it may not apply to your particular decision. My MIT letter, for example, is dated today, even though several had heard yesterday or the day before.

Just got accepted to MIT via e-mail!!

They really should show some consistency, though, eh? Phone, mail, and email?

I was applying for the 3.5 year MArch I.

Scholarship info will come in the paper letter, to arrive within a week or so (according to the email).

those waiting on sciarc - I've called the office both yesterday and today with no pick-up. I'm assuming they're on spring break? I'll give it a try next week and see if I'm a little more successful...
